The fact that a Republican president is advocating forcing federal troops on a blue state with a Democratic governor and the obvious politics of that and its supported by Trump supporters isn't as shocking as it would be before this administration.

Some day, the roles will be reversed. We may all live to see it. The right thinks its strong enough to counter that if or when it happens. History will show that the government, whether for the good or bad wins.

Two ways to look at the unprecedented gridlock in getting confirmations in the Senate that Trump is experiencing.

The Democratic view? The Republicans started it. Obama faced obstruction on a level that had never been seen in modern history.

The Republican view? The obstruction started with Dems in the Bush administration and Obama was payback.

Plus HUGE commitments to pension payments that for example in Germany are being funded by the people who are working.

Bubi, we have that same problem in NZ.  The way I would argue the proposition from a NZ perspective is, as a person nearing the pension age.

Since the late 19th and the early 20th century, my Great Grandparents and my Grandparents and my Parents and me and my generation, paid enormous amounts of tax, over those years. This tax funded our nation-wide system of Hydro-electric dams that has resulted in cheap or free electricity (that the governments sold ownership of, to faceless foreign corporations, but that's another argument), and also roads all over the land, street lighting, Universities, Hospitals, a democratic egalitarian political system and so on and so on.

Remembering that 100 or so years ago, we had very few of these things and those that we did have, were in their infancy.  1893 Electoral Act gave the vote to all Maori, all Women and other citizens. So we've all had, as they say down these ways, "a Fair Suck of the Sav", since then.

Now that the millennials are having to put their shoulders to the wheel, they don't like it.

History should be required study, before these kids are allowed to leave their parent's care, and the privations, of previous generations, in WWI, the great depression, WWII, etc etc, should be noted and force fed to them.

The very fact that our tax dollars pay the salary and paid for the cameras but the people were fought against seeing the video emphasizes how this political glorification of the police. Giving them tantamount immunity to wrong doing, letting them investigate themselves in almost all cases, is more than troubling.

...and about Soros...

List Of 206 Organizations Funded By George Soros That Are Operating In The US

  • Advancement Project: This organization works to organize “communities of color” into politically cohesive units while disseminating its leftist worldviews and values as broadly as possible by way of a sophisticated communications department.
  • Air America Radio: Now defunct, this was a self-identified “liberal” radio network.
  • Al-Haq: This NGO produces highly politicized reports, papers, books, and legal analyses regarding alleged Israeli human-rights abuses committed against Palestinians.
  • All of Us or None: This organization seeks to change voting laws — which vary from state to state — so as to allow ex-inmates, parolees, and even current inmates to cast their ballots in political elections.
  • Alliance for Justice: Best known for its activism vis a vis the appointment of federal judges, this group consistently depicts Republican judicial nominees as “extremists.”
  • America Coming Together: Soros played a major role in creating this group, whose purpose was to coordinate and organize pro-Democrat voter-mobilization programs.
  • America Votes: Soros also played a major role in creating this group, whose get-out-the-vote campaigns targeted likely Democratic voters.
  • America’s Voice: This open-borders group seeks to promote “comprehensive” immigration reform that includes a robust agenda in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens.
  • American Bar Association Commission on Immigration Policy: This organization “opposes laws that require employers and persons providing education, health care, or other social services to verify citizenship or immigration status.”...
