Flashermac
Curtains for the Clintons ... The Clintons refuse to be discarded. It has been their joint project for half a century to be at the center of the public scene and debate. The way that the whole thing came crashing down in 2016 is too hard for them to bear. They would like to rewrite the ending, but there is no way to do that. Nothing they have done lately suggests that they have learned anything, including their obtuse post-#MeToo comments about Monica Lewinsky, who has been far more candid and sympathetic in the 20th anniversary retellings of the impeachment saga. The Clintons are still unable to hold themselves accountable. The formerly golden couple who dominated their party for nearly three decades is traveling North America in a bubble, shockingly un-self-aware. Their pathological need to be relevant in America is belied by a Canadian arena, where stretches of empty seats bear witness to the passing of their relevance. It’s a pity. https://www.wral.com/curtains-for-the-clintons/18033351/
Steve
I will say this about Hillary. Now, I know a few of you guys will vehementally disagree with this but Hillary was the smartest of the bunch in the 2016 election. Smart is the wrong word. Intelligent is better. I think she had the strongest grasp on more issues than any of the candidates. I'm at pains to think of one of the candidates running in either party in 2016 who was as well versed in the varied issues as she was and she is a student of politics. That said, she really doesn't know what she wants to be and she can't make up her mind if she is a true progressive or a centrist and because of that indecision she comes off as more opportunist than someone with a strong sense of definable ideology. She wants to win and will mask her true politics which I think is actually farther left than she has been. Also to be fair to her, she WAS the Democratic party in 2016. Obama left the party broke. Obama did not raise any money for the party and they went into 2016 with no money and too late to build up a war trust. The Clintons ended up funding the party and depending on which side of the fence you are on she either "bought" the party or she "saved" the party financially. That's why Bernie didn't stand a choice. The Clintons didn't think Bernie would be much of an opposition and it was rigged because the Clintons weren't about to fund the party so that another can take the spoils of victory (if it happened). Would things have been different? Yes. I think we would already have been in a recession. Not because she couldn't manage the economy but because the market would have dropped after winning and she'd have imposed taxes on big business that would have ushered in the long awaiting, unavoidable recession and it would likely have made her a one term President. All Trump did was keep the party going. A financial party on borrowed and illusory money. He has only made the inevitable more severe. Hillary would have made the inevitable happen sooner. Which one is better? There are a few people who could give Trump a run for his money. Mark Cuban is one but it will be close. Other than him only a true, left, socialist progressive could win and for that to happen the economy would have to have started to show real, unavoidable cracks. If any of the few bubbles we have popped its over for Trump probably IF the Dems run a true progresive not tied to Wall Street and how many of those are left? AOC is too young, Booker has already took in too much corporate money and its too soon for another centrist Black guy..lol...not joking either. Warren is going to be viewed as Clinton-lite by too many because she's already been demogogued by the right to the point she has too much baggage in terms of her rep (not her fault). Ojeda from West Virgina fits the bill and if he can tune it down a bit, he would do very well. Beto won't.
Flashermac
Booker has turned out to be a disappointment. He's become just another politician. I like Ojeda, even if he does mispronounce his name so as not to frighten off voters.
Coss
"traveling North America in a bubble, shockingly un-self-aware." yes, goodbye Clintons... "Smart is the wrong word. Intelligent is better." - I quite agree, though Intelligent does not make Good, Human, or Nice. Or appealing. Just out of curiosity, Ojeda..... Oh - Gee - Dah ?
cavanami
Dem politician bragging about breaking the laws... Dem Congresswoman Admits Helping Caravan Members Enter US After They Were Denied Entry It’s hardly a secret that leftists love the idea of open borders and letting illegal immigration run amok. It’s also a well-established fact that Democrats typically harbor a seething hatred of all things related to President Donald Trump and will stoop to any depth to needle the president. But it takes a certain level of brazenness, even for a leftist Democrat, to boast about personally helping and bringing members of the migrant caravan across the border just to stick it to Trump. U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a Washington Democrat, apparently has that kind of brazenness. The 53-year-old Jayapal bragged on her Twitter account about helping migrants get into the United States after they had previously been denied entry. https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/dem-congresswoman-admits-helping-caravan-members-enter-us-denied-entry/
