When they arrived in America, President Ford asked Congress for a package to assist these refugees integrate into American society. But that troublesome US Senator showed up again and torpedoed any support for these shell shocked refugees. Instead, President Ford had to recruit Christian organizations to offer assistance on a voluntary basis. As he did so, the aforementioned Senator belittled those efforts.
What kind of person would oppose President Ford’s tireless work to do the right and humanitarian thing? Who would want to play politics with the well-being of innocent people who stood by America in the tragic Vietnam War?
That US Senator? Joe Biden.

 

Gentlemen, in a heartbreaking move brother Cavanami after probably having met Jesus is now sympathising with refugees trying to enter the US. Which the cruel Joe Biden at least according to dubious sources is said to have sabotaged about a century ago. To add to my endless support for the re-election of Donald trump i may propose to set up hundreds of billboards along the South-North Vietnam interstate saying : Vietnamese! Lift your lazy ass and flee to uncle Donald. All expenses paid.

Johnson pretty much had a deal sewed up for a peace/truce with North Vietnam in 1968 what would have been an October surprise for the Democrats in the '68 presidential elections.. The South Vietnamese leader was on board. Nixon sent intermediary (I think it was Kissinger, but not sure) to contact the SV leader and tell him if he doesn't go onboard he will take care of him after the election. The SV leader complied. The war could have ended in the fall of 1968. Every single life due to the conflict is on Nixon's hands. 

Johnson knew of it, contacted Nixon who denied it. It was of course illegal and punishable by prison. Johnson could have blown the election open but decided that the American people shouldn't see it (terrible decision). Nixon went on to win the election. 

In 1975 Nixon agreed to 3 billion war reparations to N. Vietnam, N. Vietnam didn't trust Nixon (understandably) and held on to POWs. There was an undercount A significant one  The NV were waiting for the payment from the Paris accords. Nixon reneged on paying it, bitter over the war, KNOWING American POWs were being held back. 

Nixon is by far the worst president in American history as a result of that.

For many weeks now I don't understand why there is such a hot and passionate discussion about DT and its voting out, his deselection here on this board.
One thing is clear:
The Americans will vote for Biden and Harris.

However:
No president before Trump pushed through major political innovations in the last 24 years, although the USA and the world outside the USA changed drastically:
* enormously high debt, threatening increase of the foreign trade deficit,
* Decline in confidence in the American dream,
* growing tensions due to uncontrolled migration,
* the power of the Internet monopolies,
* Loss of foreign policy influence as the influence of China and Russia and Islamic ideology increases
* open antagonisms within NATO etc.
The three predecessors and the two big American parties did not have an answer to any serious change, some of them ignored it.

With Biden/Harris an unimaginative policy will return.

The USA will continue to fall behind:
* economically
* Their foreign policy influence will continue to decrease
* culturally; the attractiveness of the American way of life will continue to lose its shine.

Neither candidate is inspiring. Biden is the status quo and the status quo of either party hasn't done well for the country. That said, Trump is so obviously bad, that its really insulting to have to explain why to any reasonable person. Even a person in his own party. His own party recognizes that. Never, ever before has so many from one's own party rejected them publicly. Even Nixon fared better from his own party. 

But its more than Trump. It's the alarmingly high percentage of people who will literally forego the constitution, rule of law, decency etc.  Wrapping themselves around the flag and simultaneously supporting the most unAmerican of actions. 

America is done, whomever wins. It will come to a loggerhead and it won't end well. How bad is the only thing I can't tell yet.
