"It seems inevitable in an election year that people on both ends of the ideological spectrum resort to simplistic labels. On the political right, many call President Obama a socialist, because that is a simple, familiar term with the desired negative connotations. However, I agree with the actual socialists from the International Socialist Organization, the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, the Party of Socialism and Liberation, and the Socialist Party USA who uniformly and correctly observe that Obama is not a dictionary-definition socialist, because he has not called for the national government to nationalize the means of production.

 

The problem here is that the dictionary definition of “socialist†sets an almost impossibly high bar for any leader. Even Vladimir Lenin himself couldn’t meet that standard. Actually, Lenin tried to implement pure socialism when he first came to power, but when his policies caused the Russian economy to collapse all around him, in 1921 he abandoned literal socialism and replaced it with a pragmatic, expedient reform program called the “New Economic Policy.†Under NEP, Lenin permitted various privatizations while seeking state domination of the “commanding heights†of the economy."

Obama Leading Romney on Handling Medicare Issues, New Polls Show

 

 

Although voters still are divided over the Affordable Care Act, several recent polls show that voters favor President Obama over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney when asked who would do a better job of handling health care issues, the New York Times reports.

Romney caught in a maelstrom about what he said to big donors in a private meeting. It sounds bad and he will suffer for it. Similar to Obama's "clinging to guns and religion" statement in the '08 campaign.

 

I am not gonna castigate Romney as much as others. The reason is when you're dealing with big money donors you tell them what they want to hear and you have to give them a reason to part ways with thousands if not millions of dollars. I'm sure if you were to hear a tape of what Obama says to the Hollywood elite, HH would sell all his belongings and move permanently out of the country. I think both have probably said some pretty scary stuff ideologically, culturally, etc. to big donors.

 

The one tag that some on the right (including HH) say about Obama being a socialist, or at least a closeted one bent on turning America into one big welfare state doesn't hold true for two reasons. One is he's governed from the center, a little left of center but not enough to be tagged liberal. The Republican party is so far right that Reagan is left of center, so in their view Obama is a socialist but its that the Republicans have moved so far away from the center that the center looks far left.

 

The second is the speeches Obama gives to Black churches. Its not done for the media because they rarely report or go to the church meetings. Obama preached self help to the point that Jesse Jackson disliked him and made that hot mic comment about him. Jackson said 'He's been talking down to people'. Obama would have gotten them more excited had he did the time tested 'the man wants to keep you down' speech. It would have carried over very well but he spoke what he truly believed and that is that the black community needs to be more self sufficient and stop doing the dumb things (babies without marriage, drugs, decorum) that doesn't help.

So what's the upshot? "My job is not to worry about those people," he says. He also notes, describing President Obama's base, "These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax."

 

This is an utter disaster for Romney.

Under the GWB regime, I 'lost' about $200,000.00 in my business.

Because of such heavy losses, I do not need to pay 'taxes'.

 

But like the rest of the 47% I pay sales taxes, property taxes and excise taxes - don't those taxes count?

 

In 'America', I haven't been able to find somebody who doesn't pay some taxes.

 

Does that mean Willard is an idiot?

 

Or does it mean I have to be on the lookout for the Danites?

Unfortunately Willard was parroting what all Republicans parrot......

 

I pay a lot in taxes.....

but personal income tax I pay nothing because I took large losses during GWB's reign.

Because of that Republicans claim I live on entitlements.

If that is true, them why do Republicans drive on the roads I help to pay for!

 

Why don't Republicans drive on the side of the road?

Why don't Republicans refuse police and fire protection and save taxpayers more money?

And why don't Republicans stop sending their kids to public schools

and county and State colleges and universities.

 

Because they all LOVE entitlement!

 

 

And when Republicans vote, have them vote

in a place that costs the tax payers absolutely nothing!

 

Why doesn't Willard reactivate the Mormon Battalion and have

the Danites lead them into all the battle the Republicans want to start......

of course they will have to do it for free and provide their own weapons, clothing and food.

Surely they don't want to live off 'entitlements' now do they?
