Trump Misleads on Russia Hacking

On the eve of his first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, President Donald Trump made some questionable claims about the U.S. intelligence community’s finding that Russia hacked into U.S. political organizations to interfere in the 2016 presidential election:

Trump said the computer hacking “could have been other people and other countries.†There is no evidence for that. U.S. intelligence has named only Russia as the culprit. A Jan. 6 report based on the work of three intelligence agencies said Putin “ordered†a broad “influence campaign†to help elect Trump.

Trump claimed former President Barack Obama “did nothing†from August to Nov. 8 about Russia meddling in the election. That’s wrong. Among other things, Obama spoke to Putin about the issue in September, and his administration worked with state officials from mid-August until Election Day to prevent voting systems from being hacked.

The New York Times reported Tuesday that Trump Jr. agreed to a meeting last June with a Russian attorney after being told in an email that the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, had incriminating information about Hillary Clinton that was "part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump."

  • Trump Jr. has insisted the meeting centered mainly on Russian adoption policies and has said the attorney "had no information to provide" about Clinton.
"The information they suggested they had about Hillary Clinton I thought was Political Opposition Research," Trump Jr. said in a statement posted to Twitter.
"I first wanted to just have a phone call but when that didn't work out, they said the woman would be in New York and asked if I would meet. I decided to take the meeting."
Kaine, Clinton's vice presidential running mate on the 2016 ticket, called the emails "very explosive" in a later television appearance on MSNBC. The emails provide "wheelbarrows full of new evidence," Kaine said, for special counsel Robert Mueller and other investigators.

And an amusing take

The fake news media is at it again.

While the White House is trying to get on with important government business — such as taking health coverage away from sick people — the Democrats and the liberal media continue their bizarre obsession with Russia's supposed interference in the 2016 election.

That allegation is, as the president has said, total fake news — something dreamt up by the very unfair and biased people who work at the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They are the pathetic little antelopes of the animal kingdom, nibbling on dying blades of grass while ferocious Donald Trump — like a strong and virile buffalo — parades his prowess all over the land. Hear his roar. That is a leader. That is a man.

Poor losers

Everyone knows that Hillary Clinton lost the election very badly, but since the fake news media still can't accept that, they are taking every opportunity to publish untrue and incredibly cruel articles about Trump and his family. Maybe Crooked Hillary is paying them? I don't know for sure; I am just asking questions.

The most recent stories are about Donald Trump Jr. meeting with a Russian lawyer to get the dirt on Hillary Clinton. But that's a lie: they only met to talk about adoptions of Russian children, not to talk about the election. There's no one who cares more about orphaned children than Donald Trump.

OK, actually, they did talk about Hillary Clinton. But so what? Every campaign ever in existence has sought out opposition research. This is a nothingburger. Donald Jr.'s recently and hastily retained criminal defence lawyer can confirm that.

And yet, the angry news media just can't let it go. It got so bad Tuesday that Donald Jr. took it upon himself to pre-emptively release the emails he exchanged with publicist Rob Goldstone, who arranged the meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. (In the emails, Goldstone refers to a meeting with a "crown prosecutor," confirming Vladimir Putin as both a president and a king.)

In the exchange, Goldstone said that he had "very high-level and sensitive information" that is "part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump." The president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who is now a senior adviser to the president, and Paul Manafort, who was Trump's campaign manager until his ties to Kyiv made the connection untenable, were cc'd on the email chain, meaning they were aware of this promise of information on Clinton from the Russian government. Donald Jr. responded to the suggestion of colluding with Russian officials with "I love it."

See? Total vindication!

If you are confused, well, then you are probably a very stupid person and possibly quite unattractive also. This is nothing. Fake news. Totally irrelevant. You want to talk serious stuff — remember that time Hillary Clinton had a cold?

In the spirit of Donald Trump Jr. and his devotion to transparency, I will pre-emptively release some photos of a stolen minivan sitting in my driveway — as well as a video montage of me breaking the car's window, hot-wiring the vehicle and then driving off to some sweet Burt Bacharach tunes — to prove I have absolutely never committed any form of theft.

As the president himself has said, Donald Jr. is a high-quality person bred from superior stock, and escorted to adulthood with the best Serbian child rearing that money can buy. Yet liberals would rather dwell on these innocent meetings held by an American patriot than this story about a bear that looks like it's doing a pole dance, demonstrating how our hyper-sexualized culture has managed to permeate even the animal kingdom. Thanks a lot, Planned Parenthood.

Donald Jr. is a loyal son, a formidable strategist and — dare I say — an American hero. And for some reason, the Russians seem to love him, too.

We’re about to enter a whole new phase of ‘Fake News’ craziness

.....To put this more simply, federal investigators are looking at whether the Trump campaign helped Russia disseminate “fake news.â€

This remarkable new revelation comes just as the Trump administration appears poised to ramp up its own campaign against the news media. Which means we are about to enter a new phase of escalation in Trump’s “fake news†wars, in which he will counter reports about investigations into whether his campaign coordinated with Russia to spread actually fake news by calling those reports “fake news.â€

In a sense, the Trump team will be chasing his own tail — and if recent history is a guide, team Trump does not perform well when it gets tangled in its own deceptions about what is true and what is false, or what is real and what is fake. But this will amount to more than an escalation in absurdity: It may threaten to do still more damage to our democracy and a free press......

Video shows Trump with associates tied to email controversy

.....video shows the future President Donald Trump attending a dinner with an Azerbaijani-Russian family who became Trump's business partners in Las Vegas in June 2013. It also shows their publicist, Rob Goldstone, who would later send Donald Trump Jr. the emails that have brought the eldest Trump son to the center of the controversy over possible collusion between Trump campaign associates and Russia.

Goldstone, who is also seen in the video talking with Trump, claimed in the 2016 emails that damaging information against Hillary Clinton surfaced after a meeting between someone Goldstone described as "the Crown prosecutor of Russia" and Aras Agalarov, an Azerbaijani-Russian billionaire with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Goldstone then offered to set up a call between the younger Trump and Emin Agalarov, the billionaire's son and a pop star Goldstone represents, to discuss the information.

The video, obtained by CNN in the wake of the email disclosures, offers fresh insights into the warm relationship between Trump and the Agalarovs, which has been widely reported because Aras Agalarov and Emin Agalarov inked a multi-million dollar deal with Trump to bring the Miss Universe pageant to Moscow in 2013.....

Rep. Brad Sherman files impeachment article against Trump

Congressman Brad Sherman, D-Sherman Oaks, announced Wednesday that he and another congressman have filed an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump. Fellow Democrat Congressman Al Green of Texas co-sponsored the article.....

....."Recent disclosures by Donald Trump Jr. indicate that Trump's campaign was eager to receive assistance from Russia. It now seems likely that the President had something to hide when he tried to curtail the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the wider Russian probe. I believe his conversations with, and subsequent firing of, FBI Director James Comey constitute Obstruction of Justice," Sherman said in the statement.

Sherman's impeachment article states that Trump should be impeached due to "high crimes and misdemeanors." The U.S. Constitution says that a president can be impeached for committing "high crimes and misdemeanors."

In his statement, Sherman described Trump as "America's amateur president," who demonstrates "ignorance accompanied by a refusal to learn."

"We're no longer surprised by any action, no matter how far below the dignity of the office-and no matter how dangerous to the country," Sherman said.
