FISA fiasco shows 'Fox & Friends' controls Trump

Thursday morning, when Trump heard someone on “Fox & Friends†raising questions about a government surveillance bill up for reauthorization, suggesting it was a bad idea. Logically, the president of the United States of America listened to the person on his TV and sent a tweet that contradicted the position his own White House and national security team have taken on the bill.

The tweet read: “‘House votes on controversial FISA ACT today.’ This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?â€

Aside from that being a bunch of unrelated and conspiratorial jibber-jabber, it also contradicted a statement the White House issued Wednesday night strongly supporting reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act...

And I love this, it's from FOX and it criticises Trump and the republicans.

A bit of a read, but worth it.

excerpt:

If enacted, this radical, unconstitutional hole in the Fourth Amendment would bring the country full circle back to the government’s use of general warrants to harass and prosecute -- general warrants so odious to our forebears that they took up arms against the king’s soldiers to be rid of them.

I am surprised that President Donald Trump supports this. He has himself been the target of unlawful foreign surveillance and unconstitutional FISC-authorized domestic surveillance. “Fire and Fury†even quotes former British Prime Minister Tony Blair warning a newly elected Trump about this. And now he wants to unleash upon us all the voracious appetite for surveillance that was unleashed upon him and prosecute us for what is found, the Constitution be damned.

Whatever happened to the public promise to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution as it is written? That’s in the oath all in government have taken. That is the oath that the president and his Republican allies reject.

The ether has erupted with reaction to Trump's "racist" comment.

My fave is from Former Mexican President Vicente Fox:

.@realDonaldTrump, your mouth is the foulest shithole in the world. With what authority do you proclaim who’s welcome in America and who’s not. America’s greatness is built on diversity, or have you forgotten your immigrant background, Donald?

Donald Trump cancels February visit to UK

Donald Trump has cancelled a visit to the UK planned for February, saying he was not a "big fan" of the new US embassy in London he was due to open.

The US president had been expected to open the new $1bn (£738m) building, commissioned by his predecessor Barack Obama, which he said was a "bad deal".

The ceremony may instead be hosted by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Foxie is a fine one to be talking. He should take a good look at Mexico's immigration rules and practices.

Here’s what Mexico’s “Law on Population†contains:

• Mexico welcomes only foreigners who will be useful to Mexican society. Immigration officials must “ensure†that “immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance†(Article 34). Furthermore, Article 37 says foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence upsets “the equilibrium of the national demographics.†Can you imagine the uproar if our Congress debated, let alone passed, such a stipulation?

• Mexican authorities must keep track of every single person in the country. Article 73 says federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with immigration authorities in assisting with the arrest of illegal immigrants.

• Foreigners with fake papers, or who enter the country under false pretenses, may be imprisoned (Article 116).

• Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported and/or imprisoned as felons (Article 117).

• Illegal immigration is a felony (Articles 123, 125).

• Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law. For example, a Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison (Article 127).

Here’s what the Mexican Constitution also says:

• Non-citizens cannot participate in the country’s political life (Article 33). Non-citizens are also forbidden to participate in demonstrations or express opinions in public about domestic politics.

• There are no equal employment rights to immigrants, even legal ones, in the public sector (Article 32).

• Fundamental property rights are denied to foreigners. Article 27 states: “Only Mexicans by birth or naturalization and Mexican companies have the right to acquire ownership of lands, waters and their appurtenances, or to obtain concessions for the exploitation of mines or of waters….â€

• An immigrant who becomes a naturalized Mexican citizen can be stripped of his Mexican citizenship if he lives again in the country of his origin for more than five years (Article 37).

• Foreigners may be expelled for any reason and without due process. According to Article 33: “The Federal Executive shall have the exclusive power to compel any foreigner whose remaining he may deem inexpedient to abandon the national territory immediately and without the necessity of previous legal action.â€
