I went by there a couple of days- no real progress, still the flat tiled area with nothing constructed. As usual, they dropped the plans and put them back together... BACKWARDS! They have now ripped a couple of shallow troughs through the new cement and tile, probably to lay some new drainage or electrical work. As seen in Pattaya, my neighborhood and all over LoS, you wouldn't want to install the pipes & wires BEFORE pouring the cement!

I remember when it was a car park. Maybe they'll rebuild the car park and the freelancers can go there instead of the Nana Hotel car park.

The latest I believe is that they're going to build an underground car park. It'll be dimly lit which will enable the game of dogging to take place.

 

There'll be various entrances to it from the bars overhead.

 

You'll be able to bring your drink with you and either take part or just watch. Seating, similar to that in a football stadium, will be provided for those not interested in taking part.

 

Large out door screens will be also available within the car park for those who can't make it right up to the actual dogging session.

 

Its hoped to get additional interest in the dogging sessions by providing a link (with sound) to the TV's in the bars. A small fee may have to be charged for this.

 

The usual facilities will be provided e.g. condom machines, wash hand basins wipes and towels etc.

 

You'll also be able to hire video cameras to either to have someone video your own performance or just to video others.

 

Obviously this is only a trial run. If its a success then they plan to build more of them.

 

They hope to have spot prizes for those who give the best performance on the day. Each dogger will be identified by a number and the audience will be provided with scoring cards which they'll be asked to fill in and score each dogging event.

 

Any contestant who feels they need an extra boost to help their performance may call in a 'teaser' to help.

 

The initial proposal is that those who intend to perform will bar fine a lady from one of the bars upstairs. You'll pay the fee and be allocated a number (used for the voting). You'll also be given a choice of cars or motor bike or even a tuk tuk to perform in or around as you see fit. You'll also be given a choice of condoms. Part of the bar fine will allow you 2 free condoms, more can be purchased from the machines. You can provide your own car if thats what you prefer.

 

Time limits will be imposed similar to 'short time'. Its not expected that anyone will want to dog 'long time'.

 

There will be no limit to the number of people participating in any one dogging event. The idea will be that a girl will be bar fined and after that any number of people will be permitted to perform up to, of course, the time limit imposed by the 'short time'. The girl may opt to be replaced during the event but not before 30 minutes has elapsed.

 

Bar fines will be slightly more expensive because of the fact that more than one male may be involved in the dogging event.

 

Girls will have to be respected and no rough stuff will be permitted unless she starts it and agrees to it.

 

More than one girl may also be involved, however she will have to bar fined in a similar manner and the same rules applies to her.

 

Its proposed that maybe a few times a year a marathon dogging festival will take place.

 

 

I hope this clears up the question of whats happening in the 'new' nana plaza.

 

Obviously there are no photos yet but the plans of the proposals may be seen on the back of a beer mat in all of the bars within nana plaza or may be seen on the back of the doors in the toilets.

Its hoped if this dogging arena (car park) is a success then the Thais will be asking that dogging becomes part of the Olympics when its held in Thailand some time in the future.

To answer the OP's question, nothing has changed on the ground floor of Nana and it remains empty. The word was that a beer garden would be built but we're into the high season and....nothing! Whether this is due to some sort of delay through lack of consent, or a decision has been made to leave the ground floor as it is, I really do not know!

For what it is worth, I can confirms what Stick says. I made a slight detour this morning while walking from Nana BTS to the Marriott and I didn't see any signs of construction or much else.
