Lets get this right Zen.

Are you saying that if you hook an Arapima you have to pay 10,000bht or it's 10,000bht to fish for them?

I ask this because quite often whilst fishing you hook into species by accident that your not targeting.

Ain't that right Phil!

I am not sure about that. Our regular guide said that one was recently caught by someone that was fishing for it and it cost him 10KTB. He was after large fish from around the world. He said that the guy kept it. Maybe it was the guy from Monster Fish and it will be on TV someday. If you fished for them and got skunked you shouldn't have to pay.

If I hooked one I would cut if off. I would not want it on the dock and I would not tell the management about it. They are so long that it is certain to injure the fish if you put it on the dock.

Those prices are out of line. I know that the website posts those figures and they are not doing themselves any favors. Three of us were going to go yesterday (Jan 25) and when other friends found out about it we wound up with 7 fishermen and four girls.

Costs were:

2000 baht for bungalo #16 (has a bedroom with aircon, a fridge and a bathroom with shower and urinal only)

2000 baht for licenses (2 poles). All but two of the docks would be difficult to fish with more than two fish on at a time.

1000 baht for the guide.

920 baht for incidentals (bait, the scent they use, coconut milk for the bait the rental on the net and whatever the guide needed to set us up. It is usually not that high.

5920 baht is what we paid at the desk.

Other costs were 2300 for the van all day and 1000 baht tip for the guide. Split 7 ways it came to 1350 each. We caught about 3 fish each, lhe largest being 85 lbs and several in the 45-60 pound range. Some of us own suitable tackle so there are no charges for that.

The guide said that if you buy a license you can fish on that center walkway for free. It is covered and wide but bring something to sit on and maybe a hammock. I have seen farangs fishing

there, one of them a good fisherman that happened to be solo. This is a good deal.

The fishing trips that we have are as much a social event as a fishing adventure. We rotate on the fishing poles and if you want to pass on your turn that is OK also. Not too many rules.

The fish park is only about 1/2 hour from the Ploen Chit tollway entrance. Take a trip out there and check it out.

Hi all,

so you can't take one of these back yo the hotel an have it cooked then?

Coss

I was told that you can keep a fish @200tb/kilo. And I was also told that you had to make an arrangement in advance to do that. Just rumors.

The latest URL is http://www.bungsamran.com/ and does not give a lot of specifics regarding prices and services.

  • 6 months later...

I didn't go this trip but I've heard their now charging the Farange 4500 bht per day :surprised: to fish there and it 1500 last time I went!

Anyone know if this is true as it's a blatant fucking rip off if it is.

Mrs Lusty didn't like the owner and and told her to her face that she was "Noghk mak mak", and that was when it was Faranges 1500 and Thai's 500!

I was thinking of fishing there but decided to try out Jomtien fishing park first. It costs only 440 baht to fish there, including guide, pole, bait, and equipment. There were Mekong catfish in the 10 kilo range, easy to catch. After about an hour of fishing and catching half a dozen of them, I had enough of fishing, at least until next year. This park is very easy to get to from Pattaya via baht bus or motocycle taxi.
