Palm Oil (Cooking Oil)

Absolutely avoid food prepared with Palm or palm kernel oil, due to it being one of the only vegetable oils that is very high in saturated fat!

Unfortunately, it is commonly used for cooking at Thai food stands

I use only rape seed oil...AKA canola oil. That and other healthy oils were cited in the previous post.

Tesco Lotus has a brand of canola oil which is cheaper than the western brands of canola (e.g. Crisco, Wesson, etc.)

Someone "sampled" Olive Oil :dunno:

I will say since I have been doing my own cooking, using very little of any oil, I lost 5 Kg.

I like Thai food but they use too much oil and sugar for my taste.

I hear conflicting reports for palm and olive oil, so it is really a case of :dunno: so I use way less.

Olive oil tastes good and is good for you! :neener:

True' date=' but you can't use it for everything, e.g., no good for stir frying as it burns if it gets too hot.[/quote']

Apparently I'm wrong about not stir frying with olive oil :dunce: just make sure it's ordinary olive oil and not the extra virgin stuff.

I use the aptly named wok oil, the chinese use peanut oil but canola oil is also good.

Might do a chicken stir fry tonight.
