dean
I thought I would give my 14 year old step daughter a break as a freshman in High school next year. I contacted her English teacher next year and asked for some books that she would be reading. The teacher gave me several books, including "To kill a mockingbird" and "romeo and Juliette." While in Chiang Mai for 2 weeks, I stopped by the largest bookstore in town to see if they had those books in Thai. I saw a few Shakespeare titles but no "Mockingbird." I asked at the front desk and they typed in the title in their computer but "Mockingbird" didn't come up. What I saw at the bookstore were many travel and cook books and what looked like Romance novels in thai but very few western "classics." My wife is still in C.M. and could bring some books back with her on April 25. Is there any place in Bangkok that I could contact or on line in either Thailand or the U.S. that could help? Nervous God
I bought the CS Lewis books and the classic "The Little Prince" in Thai at the large Japanese named book shop upstairs at emporium. Nieces loved them. Would like to get the "Story of O" in Thai but no luck
Coss
but surely the movie is good enough for demonstration purposes?
Nervous God
Oddly I had no idea a movie was in the works, bought the books a few years before the movie came out, but interestingly both where appreciated.
Flashermac
Duang Kamol (DK Books) used to be good for western books - including in translation. You might try there. For TKAMB try showing here the movie.
