ozpharlap
I am not sure whether to post this topic here or in the Technology section. I wish to watch some TV programs from back home (oz), but am unable to do so, I get the usual statement "this show is not available in this region". Any tech heads on this board know how to circumvent this problem whilst sanookers are holidaying here in LOS

LizardKing
If you move here, look into a Slingbox. They work great, if you have a good enough internet connection. I have a 8mb link, and it is fine.

Flashermac
Works fine except for the video and sound.

Nervous God
Slingbox has gotten a lot better, still glitches, but pretty good,
rchapstick
I found the biggest issue for my was upload speed in the US. Once I tweeked that, and prioritized the slingbox traffic, it has worked great. And this is with an older, 1st generation Slingbox
eyebee
I would also investigate torrents, if I were you. You can usually get the programmes a day after they are broadcast. No good for live sports, obviously, but for drama series (ie Glee, Doctor Who) it's fine. Picture and sound are usually of very good quality, and if you've got a USB port on your DVD player you just have to save the file on a thumb drive and watch it on your main TV.
