Bill Leak, editorial cartoonist for The Australian, dies aged 61 of suspected heart attack

Love him or hate him, he was exactly what cartoonists should be - fearless. A huge loss to public debate.

 

PTBM will be familiar with his work.

Had dinner with him one night about a week after the first Charlie Hebdo attack. He had submitted a cartoon to his editor with George W Bush with his cock deep up Muhammad and the caption "You can poke anything at Muhammad but fun" It never saw the light of day needless to say.

Martin McGuiness, former IRA terrorist and whose support (along with others) enabled the signing of the Good Friday accords, which ended the "troubles"/assasinations in Northern Ireland. He was 66 and died from a rare genetic disease.
