Flashermac
They will probably end up with one of those tablets that has black wax under a white plastic sheet. When you write or draw on it with a chopstick, the writing magically appears! To erase it, just lift up the plastic and it's gone again.
Hugh_Hoy
Ah...you mean a "Magic Slate"? I used those to draft my college term papers. (Were also good to send messages in class. Teacher wants to see the note? Oooops. Seems to have gone away :content: ) HH
manaomaiminam
I can remember a govt. promise around 2005 timeframe to supply low cost computers (there was a certain price) to all Thai students. Did those ever appear? The kids I knew in that time period never had the opportunity to get one. It was never mentioned in their schools.

Flashermac
Most schools in Bangkok - maybe all - have a computer room. There will be half a dozen or more PCs in them, usually with a teacher assigned to teach how to use them. I saw this well before 2005. I don't recall any promise for individual students. Just what are the students supposed to do with them anyway? If any tablet PCs are given out, expect them to be the hottest item to steal. Won't be long before they are being sold cut rate in Panthip and elsewhere.

You can't really write long texts, work with images e.g. A subnotebook for the same price would be much better IMHO.
gobbledonk
Am I correct in saying that many Thai students would be happier knowing that they were going to get 3 square meals (or 5 small ones) than a tablet computer ?
