Coss Posted May 22, 2011 Report Share Posted May 22, 2011 I had the inestimable pleasure of a fishing trip with Moo Noi yesterday. We took off on a friends boat, twin outboards, an hour from downtown Auckland. Fishing was hard, it's just turned winter here. I did get 14 or so Mackeral, good for grilling But no good fish. A pleasant day was had, reminiscing, exchanging mongering stories, etc. And then it was time to go and whammo! Moo Noi has hooked what looks to be a locomotive, rod bending, line stripping off the reel, this could be a massive fish! 10 minutes later the fish was still threatening to pull Moo Noi over the side of the boat. I'd decided it must be a large stingray, the way it was working the boy. Eventually the fish was boated, a 3kg Kahawai ( Link ) and this one had lived up to the Kahawai's well earned reputation as a great sporting fish. Only 3 Kg but it fought like a bastard!
