Where to Buy Quality Sound gear

This is more mid-fi than 'high end', but these guys fly all over the world rubbing shoulders with the makers of some seriously high-end kit. Best of all, they are very approachable - not always the case in audio.

If you want seriously high end, I suspect that you can afford a plane ticket to the UK:

A little closer to home, The Adelphi in Sillypore will empty the wallets of all bar the Thaksin/Branson/Gates-style rich kids.

Just be aware that, like elsewhere in Asia, you are what you wear in The Adelphi - rock up looking like you just left a backpacker hostel and things can be decidedly frosty. I also wouldnt bother going over there before 2pm : some of these guys seem be semi-retired and able to live off a single sale per week.

For those who think that companies like Bose or Bang&Olufsen make 'high end' gear, sadly that isnt the case. The mid-fi stuff from Denon, Marantz and Cambridge Audio is much better value than most of their overpriced 'lifestyle audio'. No question that these companies can afford some very nice styling and they have good engineers working for them, but they dont even register with the people who will happily drop USD 20K+ on a phono cartridge.

No, I dont move in those circles either, but dreams are free.

TB - I'd go with BB's suggestion. IE get it all in one dvd/bluray/radio/cd etc in the one room. Makes it even more worth it as you can watch movies etc with the sound cranked up.

You living over there now?

No not full time ...maybe next year..not sure yet..

Thanks for the info..

AHA ! The very question that I have asked you on several occasions, TB - it appears that I just need to PM Redbaron and get HIM to ask questions in future. ;)

Touche, and I'm probably one of the few here who has read every one of his countless inane posts over the years. OK - me and KS, but it doesnt count if you HAVE to read every post.
