An Observation

Recommended Posts

I see on the Bangkok Post website, three pieces of information.

1. Fugitive to surrender - A lawyer for Arisman tells the DSI that his client wants to surrender,

2. as the EC is asked to examine jailed Jatuporn's eligibility to be an MP.

3. A top priority of what looks to be a solid-majority Pheu Thai-led coalition government under Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be a law to grant amnesty to her brother Thaksin and allow him to return home.

My observation is, that in no other country that I am aware of, are amongst the first orders of business after a winning election bid, the rehabilitation of 3 criminals, presumably to become part of the government.

No that there's anything wrong with that...

Anybody expected otherwise? :p

Next will be that Thaksin returns triumphant and you will see that his confiscated assets will be returned to him of course including interest.

The government will definitely go into the Guinness Book of records.

Headed by a novice, first female PM who rules the country via remote orders from a fugitive criminal turned ex tyrant plus several ministers with criminal records. Not to mention the usual greedy crooks in important positions which will guarantee their pockets will be filled to recover the campaigning costs multiple times.

Amazing Thailand indeed. Just wondering how long the elite will remain silent on this farce.

Chalerm's son, Wan, lost be less then 100 votes. They are asking for recount, and apparently they feel there were some irregularities at the polling place that will require a new election.

Yingluck got a free pass during the campaign as nobody wanted to really go after her because she is a woman and it just isn’t done. As PM, I do not think the cultural rules will apply so much.

As the opposition has enough votes to call a censure debate just about anytime they want, I expect they will go after her within just a few months just to give her a taste of what it means to be a PM and what Abhisit put up with over the past 2 years.

I suspect she her reaction to a serious, highly insulting attack as are used in such debates, will be to burst into tears.

This will make the opposition speaker look very bad domestically, but internationally it will be a different story. You just don’t see Prime Ministers bursting into tears in the middle of Parliament too often.

Some SOBs didn't vote the way they were paid. They will be eliminated before any new election. Their sudden demise will be covered by the amnesty. :p
