Mrs Balbir's is a decent restaurant, but I'd take the Royal India over it.

I agree...however, I recently (last month) had a lamb Vindaloo at Mrs. Balibir's (the one on Sukh 11/1) and it was quite respectable, and might incendiary...and I'm no wuss, my Thai friends regularly can't share my (Lao) dishes, because of how spicy I order them, when we eat together, haha...

When I finally (!) get back to BKK, this is very high on my list. I really want to see the look on a TGs face when she realises the spices arent the same, and being able to eat chilli by the basket doesnt automatically equip one for Vindaloo. I can still remember trying to put out the fire with beer - probably the worst thing you can do - and my subsequent respect for Indian cooking.
