Finally reported: Kasit off to Germany to retrieve royal jet

Does Thailand really believe that Germany will bow to these childish threats? Germany is part of Schengen and a key member of the European Union. Threatening Germany will always trigger an unified answer of the European Union. I guess Thailand is greatly overestimating its power in this case. Especially as Germany is acting only according to internationally accredited rules.

I don't understand the remark about Thaksin entering Germany. Is it linked to a recent visit? If yes, it will be very interesting to see what will happen if Germany indeed arrests him and extradites him to Thailand after PT has assumed power. So far I never had the feeling that Thailand is seriously seeking Thaksin extradition. If they would have, we wouldn't have the political mess Thailand is currently into.

Millions of Germans started storming the local markets to buy food and various articles to prepare for the Thai / German crisis . The national summer holidays have been called off and people are asked to dig holes in the garden to find shelter from Thai artillery . This is considered the most serious threat since WW II .

Especially Thai helicopters are seen as serious threat, because no one knows where and when they will go down.... mikec.gif

BKK Post too has published Germany's official position on this matter.

I wonder how the Thai government will find its way out of this publicity disaster. Especially since Thai officials used a very unrelenting language in the Thai media.

Germany tells govt to pay contractor

Newspaper section: News

Germany has again called on the Thai government to pay a German construction contractor after allegedly failing to honour a contractual agreement in building Don Muang Tollway.

The call has been issued in a statement posted on the German Embassy website following the Thai Government's refusal to put up a 20 million euros (about 860 million baht) bank bond to secure the release of HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's plane at Munich airport earlier this month.

A German insolvency administrator has seized the Boeing 737 to force the Thai government to comply with an international arbitration panel in 2009 for it to pay Walter Bau AG.

"The judgement is final," the embassy said. "In line with the Investment Protection Treaty between Germany and Thailand, the German government expects the Thai government to fulfill its obligation ... as soon as possible.

"The embassy said reports in the Thai media about ongoing proceedings in New York are misleading.

It said the proceedings in New York merely concerned the question as to whether a compulsory enforcement was also possible in the US. This would not alter Thailand's obligation to pay."An early resolution of this case would restore the confidence of German and other foreign investors in Thailand," the embassy said.

Didn't the plane have its own security?

What happened to diplomatic immunity?

This was a private 'holiday trip' by the prince, therefore no diplomatic immunity.

Do airplanes have private security on international airports at all?
