You heard this is the bars every night in the 1970s, and the BGs would all sing along with the chorus.

One of Pattayas best gutarrists, Noi at Natalie Beer Bar ussed to play it quite often. I have spent many nights ther in the nineties but I never new the origin of the son. Thanks for the clip.

Unfortunately his liver gave up about 3 years ago so he isn't to be heard anymore.

OOOOPs! Seems that too much time flashing and to little world experience... The song Butterfly has been going on in Jamaica for over 30 years., First heard by Byron Lee and the Dragoneers and is now a standard. Ladies singing whilst crouching and winging the knees open and closes singing "Do the Butterfly" any opine to the contrary is merely a conjectural expression of their unworldlyness! The first Sun Splash show in Jarred Park Mo-Bay the song was a total hit! People going crazy!

You are more than welcome for this factoid!

Flash - That's pretty cool bit of history. The only equivalent thing I remember just goes back to the mid-90's here - when all the bargirls would scream along to the chorus of:

But - I never never hear this song in Bangkok any more.

But - there is this one presently gaining steam:

Butterfly, my butterfly

(D. Gerard - H. Barns)

Fell in love in the wink of an eye

With the girl who was called Butterfly

She said she loved me so she could not let me go

But still I had to say goodbye.

Butterfly, my Butterfly

I'll come home to you one day

Butterfly, my Butterfly

Wait for me don't fly away.

Never fly in the heat of the sun

Close your wings when the long day is done

Stay home and wait for me till I get back and then

Counting the minutes one by one.

Butterfly, my Butterfly...

I'll come home to you one day

Butterfly, my Butterfly

Wait for me don't fly away.

When a man longs to be free

He will sail to the end of the sea

I won't be gone too long but while I travel on

Just close your wings and wait for me.

Butterfly, my Butterfly

I'll come home to you one day

Butterfly, my Butterfly

Wait for me don't fly away.

Butterfly, my Butterfly

I'll come home to you one day

Butterfly, my Butterfly

Wait for me don't fly away...

Recorded by Jim Ed Brown & the Browns

(the group broke up in 1967)
