Macau And Airasia

Just my humble and limited experience - look for casino promotions in Macau. (long time ago)

Air Asia? make sure you now where and when the departure gate is open, if you're 1 second late they may leave you behind, as nearly happened to me several times.

I fly Air Asia half a dozen times most years, mainly Thailand domestic flights.

I have never had a problem, I was even a day late for a flight once this year and merely had to make up the price difference between a promotion and a regular flight.

Don't assume that they are always the cheapest though, particularly if you book on short notice.

As an aside I can't understand why people regularly turn up at departure gates at the last moment, I'm a cranky old selfish bastard and I'd much prefer someone miss the plane than myself and the other passengers have to wait even ten minutes for them to board.

When booking Air Asia, book the seats from row 1-5, first boarding and first off the plane and book a meal in advance, hardly any extra costs but worthwhile the effort. I like their Focaccia! Also make sure you book enough baggage allowance, they start with 15KG per person.

Once in Macua, check indeed with the casino's. It's a very short ferry trip to Hong Kong from Macua! Maybe a trip to Disneyland is in place

Coming to Thailand in december for 6 weeks as usual, and planning on going to Macau in january with my wife to celebrate our 10th anniversary together.

Seems like AirAsia is the best and cheapest bet.

Any hints, tips & suggestions for Macau and AirAsia ?

TIA.

I love Macau. far more laid back than HK.

If you enjoy walking to blow away the cobwebs after a night in the casinos, grab hold of the free brochure from airport info or visitor centre in Senado Square "Macau by Day and by Night".. excellent self guided walks of one to two hours with very good large scale maps. Very safe city. Save on taxi fares and you get to see lots of interesting out of the way places and magnificent views.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Reason we picked Macau is for all the photo opportunities there in day time, and casinos at night, will be fun.

No ferry to HK though, been there - done that.

AirAsia is booked with all options for seats, luggage & food, thanks for the tips.

Hotel is booked with Tim, and we bought the Rough Guide to guide us around.

Will be fun, as a couple celebrating their 10th anniversary together.....
