sayjann
a couple of times my gal went out and bought a freshly grilled fish. she called it a 'badu' but did'nt know the english name for it. it was a flatfish and she just took it apart with her fingers and laid the flesh on my plate while she also ate the flesh. it was a lovely piece of fish and being freshly cooked was so hot and seemed to just melt off the spine. any ideas of what kind of fish it is?. khunsanuk
Hi, I think this is a 'plaa duk' or in English 'catfish'. Sanuk!
Julian2
For sure, in the north and Isaan/Lao pla (fish) is bar. It's a good fish to buy in markets because they live for ages out of water so are usually still kicking when cooked.
sayjann
Hi, I think this is a 'plaa duk' or in English 'catfish'. Sanuk! it was more of a flatfish like a flounder or plaice. a catfish to me seems more round in shape. but as a non fisherman i cannot be sure............ Julian2
Just checked with the house fishing expert, she says there is a flat fish called bar boo. Gave it the thumbs down as a culinary experience but she doesn't like beef either.
