It appears that my pool-shooting days are numbered, if not actually over. The pain in my knees and ankle, just from standing and walking around the table continuously (OK, on top of walking for an hour or two at MBK, looking for a CD wallet) just about killed me. It appears that I really do need to learn to speak Thai. One of the girls working there, a genuine cutie by ANY standard, asked me if I spoke Thai, was very apologetic that she didn't speak English, and was apparently very disappointed when I told her I didn't.
