A 22-year-old man was charged today with assaulting Karun Hosakul in a quarrel on Thursday night which resulted in the Pheu Thai MP representing Don Muang district sufferring a cut at his mouth which required five stitches.

Pol Col Rangsan Praditphon, the Don Muang police chief, said police summoned Thitaphan Boonyai for questioning after receiving a complaint on the incident from Mr Karun.

Mr Thitiphan admitted he had a quarrel with Mr Karun for becoming dissatisfied with the MP who drove a Jet Ski waterscooter at a high speed, sending big waves that caused the boat he and three friends were riding in to capsize.

The MP was said to be inspecting the flood on the night of Nov 10.

The young man said he and Mr Karun had a fight following a heated argument.

He was released after being charged with assaulting the MP.

No bail was required as the case was minor, Pol Col Rangsan said.
