When I renewed my passport the Indian gentleman at the post office pointed out to me I would be up for a $100 fine for not producing my expired passport. Since I googled the situation previously I knew that would be the case, and if I "lost" passports in the future the fine would go up, I'd be likely looked upon as the next public enemy number one for possible supplying Aussie passports to the "bad guys" in Iraq, Libya and other oil rich enemies. Got a cheque in the post the other day - DFAT has reviewed my case and refunded the cash! Woo-hoo! That'll go toward my new flash I reckon. Just thought I'd share...
