sayjann
Muhammad Ali celebrates his 70th birthday...... i was a teenager and not at all interested(and still not)in boxing. but whenever he fought it was an occasion to watch. the epic fights against Foreman and Frazier were certainly unforgettable. he had his ups and downs during his career but was his own man at the time. he made mistakes, but don't we all?. he was such a great character during his heyday and his confidence and self-belief was incredible. i remember standing in line for his autograph in LA in 1994 and had the great honour of shaking his hand. he was in the early stages of his alzheimers and such a shame to see him not having much of a clue what was going on. in my eyes the he was the 'greatest' sportsman of his era/his chosen sport and maybe of all time.
