Crazy Traffic In Thailand

was driving in Rayong Chanthaburi area. close to Klaeng, there was over a distance of around 15km oil, gasoline or whatever spilled on the road. every couple of hundred meters a car crashed or overturned in the road ditch. police and aides on a suicide mission in the middle of the road to slow down speeding cars or to direct traffic around the damaged cars. traffic was very heavy, maybe due to chinese new year weekend? reckless pickup and truck drivers overtaking and squeezing into the queue.

anyway, lucky to get out of this without a scratch at the car...

Whenever there is a holiday, most of the Thai drivers go nuts, forgetting any driving skills, however limited, they may have had!

Very common to see a large tour bus going 100Km/hr++ down the shoulder of the highway!

When I drove thru the flooded area in Rangsit, no signs to indicated the road was flooded. You would be going along 100Km/hr, get over the top of a hill only to find cars/trucks backed up because of the 30cm of water on the highway!

No police to be found, roads closed, no detour signs, nothing...TIT :dunno:
