5000 THB are not anymore what they used to be. Price of Som Tum has increased significantly; I see it sold for 40-50 THB...upcountry!

Garn your joking right!

Highest I seen it is 30 baht.

And that's in quasi restaurants even.

I've only ever seen it higher in real restaurants - never seen it sold on the street for more than 30 baht.

5000 baht for a girl inc rent is fine, she should be sharing note, not living on her own. so the rent (her portion) would only be less than 1000 baht.

Even in Bangkok inner city apartments with no air 2200 - that's very close walking distance to UTCC - less than 1 km. With Air 3000.

Out side Bangkok cheaper again of course.

3 girls to a room easy to understand the maths that 5000 baht is viable. I know many girls who get by on 7000 baht a month. 10K is a small fortune.

Especially when they love that close to Uni etc. Mum and dad / YOU pay for their books etc of course.

Many girls aere smart and get a part time job.

I know one girl with a full time job in a good office working on her second Uni degree and studying full time every weekend. (8 hours + Saturday and Sunday)

Gobble,

Whatever it is, it seems to be rampant, and many end up on their ass, broke and heart-broken, crying in their beer and wanting a shoulder to cry on and an ear to sympathize with their plight. I do sympathize, somewhat, to a point, but most bring it on themselves, they at least do have part of the blame for their plight. In the past 6 months I know of at least 10 men who have lost everything they put into the marriage/relationship, and know at least 10 more who could/may end up the same. 2 million baht (or much more) house? Gone. 1 million baht truck? Gone. Bank account in the LOS? Gone. Motocyke? Gone. Kids? Gone. Wife? Gone, thankfully actually. Most of these guys spent and spent to make the lass happy (and her family happy), to keep the peace, or get and keep the piece, and have nothing left except a small pension, which they can survive on here, but at a much lesser quality of life then they had planned on and expected to live. It's mind boggling really what these gents get themselves into. The lucky ones are younger and still have a job and income. The sad ones are the older guys with not much remaining in assets, no job or even the possibility of a job, and a small monthly pension. These guys are truly fucked. One guy I know is 85 years old, and has lost it all, except his meager monthly pension check.

It's sad to see most times.

Oh common Cent!

What do you call a tourist-sex-pat who falls in love with the first BG in the first gogo or beerbar he enters?

You met them, you met many of them. So did I.

I call them idiots.

Som Nam na.

Their blood left their brains to circulate their penises.

Their woman walk them like someone leads a dog by the leash, but they walk/pull their dick.

Their numbers are huge, I would not dare to guess a % though, say 80, 85, 90?

I have no sympathy for these idiots; I don't run a restaurant neither, so I do not need to socialise with them.

And yes expats do live here happily with Thai wives, well hidden away from Sin City.

I even have a few acquaintances who do live in Sin City and combine well their sins with their GFB (Good-Farang-Boy) lives.

And Oh, I am one of those guys who build a nice farang house in her name, two cars, one samlor, one motorbike, a lot of cash in her bank account.

And I have a plan B,C and D (house, money, decent pension from abroad)

I remember 't was Belgian Boy who got upset learning about my plan B,C and D.

How are you doing BB?

Really sad what's going on in Hitler's Salute thread.

This board has not improved over the years :shakehead

BB

On holiday in Belle-gium, leaving for Isaan this Sunday morning.

Will drink some champagne on my way out around lunchtime and hope they will still have a bottle of Meursault on board.

Finally and officially retired.

Health still OK, replenished my meds for 6 months, no further problems in that regard.

Bought land 1km outside Mee's village, built house without swimming pool because we don't want the hassle to maintain it.

Life has never been better, we travel a lot to escape the heath and village life.

We are in the process of adopting a fantastic little girl, now 15 months young, it's lots of fun to wake up with 2 females in our bed and to spend the day with them. The little one keeps us busy all day with running after her and closing all the drawers she opened and emptied. We have two dogs and go walking them every morning around the fields, the 5 of us.

I don't have enough time on hand to read the 5000 books on my ipad.

And you, still working hard?

When do you plan to move to HH with your ega?

Take care also!

I have no intention to make a comeback here, way too boring reading the usual stuff.
