R.i.p. Silver Dollar

Recommended Posts

Last night saw another WS icon close the doors forever.

Lots of good memories...(and a few bad ones...lol)

The Square is almost dead now.

Couldn't make it for the farewell party....stuck in Jomtien and "busy"

Anyone there to report on the "wake"?????

Cheers DS

I thought it was going to last a bit longer and still be there in June when I'm over. :(

Sorry to see it go, but assume that Ned and Ott will open something elsewhere / nearby? After all, the old timers still need somewhere to drink. :dunno:

So what is left? Taffies, Hare and Hound, Dubliner and the various other nondiscript "bars"?

Glad I took pics of them all when I did.

Got an invite from a board member last night - should have been a few of them there. Wanted to go, but just back from a week long trip to India and was worn out. Sorry to have missed it - any real reports?

I'm getting depressed about the WS demise. I lived on Soi 22 (Liberty Square) from 95 to 99 and have always stayed on Soi 22 (Regency Park Hotel) on all of my visits since 99 and WS has always been my daytime hangout. So where do I go now? :dunno:

Was in "the Square" on Sunday & Monday nights.

Heard from a good source that some Bars will close this month....and some have till July

Spent a few $$ in Miss P's Bar and ended up having a night on the town with her as we recalled good times....and the odd explosive situation...... over the years

Miss P and Long Island Ice Teas are a great combination.

We are friends again....

Cheers DS/DC

It seems malaise and lack of interest are going to kill off the old spots on WS a long time before the wrecking ball does.....

Probably the demise of it's core customer base is responsible for the long death of WS. Such a pity. Just as I was finally old enough to feel like I belong there. 555555555

The Texas Lone Staar wasn't the same after George departed. Lots of folks went there just for him. Surprised to hear the Silver Dollar is gone already. Hope they reopen somewhere. Loved their pork sandwiches.
