Thai Bar Girl, Now My Wife

But I have to disagree to your conclusion: "No bar can worsen that". Being lazy does automatically turn a young girl in a drinking, scheming, hardened, emotionally damaged person.

In my experience the bar life style and prostitution can/will change a women (and almost very much their relationships to men).

Said like that, I would concur with you. There are lazy girls however 99% of them never see bars in their life.

Those who do, pack more than the lazyness. They are not mere bottom 3rd ranked school girls who suddenly found themselves in farang bars. There had been more damage done to them beforehand. Bars may make them lose what little respect they had for others aand themselves.

For example, the girl whom I met when she was 18, almost fresh from the village and who wasn't used to alcohol at all, became a really hardened, tattooed whore who started to drink around noon, with a behavior and vocabulary which made me speechless. Even her face had become hard. I have never seen changes like this on young women in my home country, when I grew up (and this was in scene in which dope and harder drugs were very common, and in which several dropouts were hanging around - but I did not know prostitutes at that time).

I saw them departing for Bangkok. In 2002. they were grade 6, quit school. Idled around for years. Campaign seasonal work, underage drinking in the fields, helping at rented market stall, no activity whose purpose is not seen in 10-15 mins. Year after year, although still young, they fell out of touch with their and consecutive generations still at school. Their peers who continued school would not want to be seen with them, the gap was widening. Dealing with what is the recruiting base for tuk-tuk drivers and motosai taxi, they became mean, arrogant, abusive, loud.

Then, BKK time came. Someone knew a factory that was hiring, no experience needed. Several of them went together.

For 2 (out of 5) it was known they were booted out from work and nobody knew where they were (the family did know, some money was arriving from them, said another factory another place).

Whoever was supplying the money, could have thought exactly what you said and without knowing the background, that would be easy to believe.

Saw dozens of them in non-transactional environment, I can tell you it would be a nightmare to be with them even for rural Thais. Unless you are a motosai driver who either make their nose bleed or gives them blue eye 2-3 times a month.

Nothing like an average girl. It's the Thai way of life that does not ostracize them.

In the West they would be isolated or even under some form of government care.

As for tatooes, it could be as simply as this: a Brit customer asked where to get tatoo in BKK, she asked someone and found. While there, drunk, accepted Brit's offer to have one too. No thinking, just sliding into. That attitude had been there before she hit bar.

Bar just made behavioral deficiences show their visible aspects, less and less controlled as the time went by.

That is what many call "hardening".

However, hardening of "pre-existing conditions", if you will.

<<70% of hard disks on the planet are made in Thai. During the floods, and after the floods, before the factories resumed production, there was no noticable influx of girls from the submerged factories. There were 100s of thousands affected, not only HDD manufacturing.>>

The Hard Drive companies didn't lay their skilled staff off during the floods, they offered the staff a cut in salary for the duration of the flood damages and factory repairs, going on memory, a 50% cut, with full time work expected to resume in February or March, the cut came in effect in October or November, I'd haave to call people to get the right dates and I'm not in Thailand but in China right now, in December staff got paid an end of year bonus, and then resumed full employment when the factories where re-opened to the the staff that re-turned to work. During this time they could take up other jobs, etc.

Sure, that does not contravene with what I said. It all started with someone posting how some girl got retrenched from a HDD manufacturing plant where she was on 200B a day. My doubt was - she was rather fired for who knows what. Also, the 200B a day is rather low, should be more like 300B + overtime.

And Ayuthaya is not only HDDs, it's an industrial estate with Honda, Canon, Nikon, Sony, electronics, much more than only HDDs.

That means little here, it's a legal limit. HDD manufacturers pay more than that.

Some 250-280$ a month plus overime, same as in Shanghai.

HDD drives manufactiring is especially sensitive to work force fluctuation as often changed and untrained staff may introduce particles that can (and did) lead to data loss accross the globe.

That is why they are so eagerly clustered, all 3 of them + HDD motors manufacturers in the Ayutaya area.

Ironicaly, no greater localisation has the world seen since introduction of globalization into HDD manufacturing.

They don't shed staff easily, especially sending them to Pattaya bars. Press (helped by competition) would get onto it.

We all know of the scandals following Apple and Foxconn. Now, "Seagate sending their workers into prostitution to survive" or something. Nonsense, now I even believe that the girl who said that simply lied. Or is that unexpected or unusual from a Pattaya working girl?

Ironically, when I first came to Thailand the North was the main source of BGs and MP girls. Several villages were especially noted for their young women entering the sex trade. Massage parlours were filled with Northern women, the whiter the better. But as the North's economy improved, fewer went into it and the emphasis had shifted to the Northeast by the early 1980s. Nowadays it is unusual to find a Northerner in the bars.

I wonder whether they now operate in the MPs and G-Clubs ? Whether they have more opportunities than 30 years ago, mid to high end P4P brings in way more than any regular job would.

I think the recruiting system has changed, as more Thais approach middle class status young women don't have the same need to turn to prostitution.

Subsequently the bars and brothels are fed by girls who are brought in from poorer ethnic communities; if you go north you find many hills tribes lasses, in the north east I see a lot of genuine Lao girls.

Burmese and Cambodian girls are everywhere. It maybe different in the big tourist areas where there are still some serious baht to be made on you back (or on your knees), but I'd say the production line sex has lost much of it's financial appeal to Thais now.

Useless argument HT,

The woman TTM was posting about was more than likely fired before 1st April 2012 when the minimum wage for Ayuthaya was 190 Baht / Day.

She worked for the hard drive company in the early 2000's.
