Walking St Crackdown

Crackdown on riff-raff

I can feel your eyes rolling around in their sockets, gentle reader, but the Mayor seems serious (!) about cracking down on the flotsam and jetsam that have ruined the good name (o-kay..) of his fine city for the last, oh, 5 or so years.

My favourite quotes from the article:

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh said a proposal awaiting approval would have Pattaya police, tourist police and municipal enforcement officers jointly ticket and arrest on sight pornographic DVD sellers, sex-show touts, beggars, flower sellers and other street vendors from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Wait - so it still has to be 'approved' ? Years of inaction and Police apathy and you still need approval to do something ?

Walking Street community head Sunthorn Kangsirikul agreed many of the street vendors and beggars are nuisances to tourists. He also requested more help in corralling the many transvestites and motorcycle taxi drivers congregating on the 850-meter promenade who also draw copious numbers of complaints from visitors.

A 'corral' full of transvestites and motorcycle taxi drivers - surely that would be an attraction in its own right ?

And finally, my favorite paragraph of the entire piece :

Some of the street entertainers will be allowed to stay, however. The deputy mayor said a dozen artists will be allowed to perform behind the Siam Bayshore Hotel, including magicians, kids with footballs and people painted up as robots

Looks like women trying to sell flowers and monkeys are going to be sleeping in the soi outside my hotel when I stagger back at 4am. I expect those monkeys will be kinda tetchy by that hour. <_<

Yes,although I,sorry I mean a friend of mine, reported that he had seen groups of Asian tourists being shown into one of the more popular Walking Street Agogos where they stayed for one drink, watched the show and then left.I of course would not frequent such an establishment :tophat: I prefer the Hi-so areas of the city :chinaman:

The same things that happen in all the other areas of the city but without the hoi-poloi cluttering the place up with their string vests, beer goggles ,copies of the daily sport etc. :reindeer: ps.Mr.Tawdry I have noticed you seem to have an obsession with rodents ; I suggest you see a psychiatrist as soon as possible.Regards Y.A.T.

YAR, forgive my ignorance, but exactly where ARE these hi-so areas in Pattaya ? Even the Hilton above CentralWorld seems very reasonably priced compared to its counterparts in Sydney or Melbourne ....

Gobble - Us Hi-So folks like to keep the location of these places quiet so the plebs don`t pile in and spoil the atmos.Maybe if you ask nicely myself and new GF "Lek" ( actually her full name is Khun Ying Mom Ratchawong " Lek ",she`s from one of the top families, same as myself :tophat: )may allow you to tag along on one of our nites out on the town.Dont let the fact she has several large tats ,smokes heavily and can open beer bottles with her teeth put you off -she only adopts this front so the other ladies don`t think she is stuck up .
