I learnt from Old Hippie that denials do your cause absolutely no good - fuel for the fire.

Coss, I wasnt the guy in the red shirt - of course, in your mind that probably places me between his legs. Just cant win on this board - if you arent a Katoey specialist you must be a pillowbiter .... :stirthepo

And my personal favourite, a company out of Southern China which doesnt appear to recognise Thailand as a country in Asia:

Fuck me

Why do I just know this has been because of similar problems as those alluded to in Russia ?

DHL can't shipping to Russia , and in our experience , shipping to Russia by EMS usually need 30 days because Russia custom check and delay.

Still, that has to beat their Singapore (!) experience:

EMS to Singapore have very bad serve, usually had damage the gear so we refuse shipping to Singapore by EMS

Subtotal for Products: $1,095.00

Current shipping is Shipping: $228.00

Insurance /Documents /Payment /Fuel Surcharges (if any): $105.14

If that number still doesnt cover the Customs Duty, I might as well just stay in my apartment drinking cartons of Heineken and listen to a transistor radio.

Gobbie,

You may wish to try out Yaoarat Road in Chinatown on a Saturday evening, soi after soi of hi end audio equipment at 1/3 rd price of downtown. Chinese is crap? Well my iPhone, IPad, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro were all manufactured in China.

I don't carry my vinyl collection with me anymore, to much hassle I just have it on Raid Drives , the old we get the worse our hearings gets.

The offer is open to take you there fit and when you are up for it.

Thanks for the info - I think you will find that attitudes to Chinese audio (made AND designed in China) is rapidly changing, and most of the entry-to-mid-level gear is made there anyway, regardless of the badge on the box. Then you have one-offs like this lot, who claim to be able to manufacture their kit entirely in the US - at their prices, they must be paying their staff minimum wage, but it begs the question - at what point did American Labour Unions price their industries out of the market ? No question that the Chinese dont 'play fair', but our farmers have exactly the same opinion of the Americans and Canadians when it comes to overseas contracts.

Schiit FAQ

Do you seriously make your stuff in the USA?

Yep. We worked long and hard to get our designs and chassis so they could be assembled by first-world labor for prices similar to the Chinese. That’s why you won’t see a single wire in our products, and why our chassis are an ultra-simple (but cool-looking) two-part design.

But wouldn’t it be cheaper doing it in China?

Maybe. But we’re not going to find out.

Well, hell, all your parts are probably Chinese anyway, right?

Um, no. The majority of our parts, on a total cost basis, come from right here in the USA, from companies manufacturing their products in the USA. Most other parts are bought from US-based companies, but are manufactured all over the world. Notable exceptions are Valhalla’s tubes (Russia), and the Alps Blue Velvet pots (Japan.)

Downsides ? Schiit amps run HOT : seriously-burn-your-hand hot, but they make no apologies - thats the design, and you shouldnt be taking the thing to bed with you. Cheaper than a lot of the Chinese-designed gear from people like this:
