khunsanuk
Hi, Put an ad out - you will get dozens of applications - trying to hire some one is the problem. Just double or triple the salary offered. That will solve the problem. Sanuk!
Pom Michael
KS - uh - no. It just shoots the budget and it will not get you a better quality person - just a highly paid one.

cavanami
There are "head hunters" that have supplied excellent Thai people for several companies that I know of. You pay them some $$$ and they will provide you with a list of candidates.
ThaiHome
KS - uh - no. It just shoots the budget and it will not get you a better quality person - just a highly paid one. Curious how you know, in advance, that the person will not be more skilled and just highly paid? TH
Specialist
What I find amusing is that, despite being invited to do so, neither of the guys who SAY they need programmers managed to say ANYTHING about what they needed, beyond "CHEAP!" (implicit in their unstated assumption that they could not afford to pay market rates for what they needed to hire). Recall the old saying "Cheap, fast, good. Pick two." Mekong
I posted a few days ago about getting involved in IT within industry, only Thai Home appeared to understand where I was coming from. Example is a job I was offered yesterday Control Systems IT (CS-IT) Full time project role which will cover IT and Control & Automation skills Min 5-10 years work experience in oil and gas sector with focus on IT and Control and Automation disciplines. Has minimum 5 years experience with process control systems and the adherence to process control standards. Experience with the Management of Change processes for offshore ... Location: Aberdeen Job Type: Contract Salary: 450 - 620 UK Pounds/day Job Ref.: J748227 Now even at minimum rate that pays over 10,000 GBP / Month whereas top rate is over 14,000 GBP / Month, these are the rates that I find close to acceptable, when I studied 30 years ago I was not prepared to sit writing HTTP, HTML or C++ for some asshole boss at a pittance for some crapy website (no offense KS) jeez flash is past its sell by date yet try to find anyone semi proficient in HTML5 even now forget it, we known HTML5 is the future yet people still claim to be experts in Java and Flash, P L E A S E. khunsanuk
Hi, Specialist, in our case it would PHP, XCode and Delphi, but as I said we're not looking at the moment. I believe Pom Michael is looking for ASP programmers. Mekong, your field is quite different and I do think that part of the reason for those high salaries is the fact that you are often working in places most people would like to avoid. Or am I wrong? Sanuk! PS No offense taken as I don't work for a boss

Or am I wrong? Sanuk! PS No offense taken as I don't work for a boss KS, To be honest my field is not different, did not Tim Berners-Lee come up with the idea of HTTP whilst involved at CERN an engineering project at the time, computing has gone from the field of engineering into the masses with the expanse of the internet and IMHO there are 99% of people out there who now call themselves programmers whose work is based on basic websites as opposed to the 1% of us who actually use networks for the reason they were first conceived. I must admit that your assertion of fees on offer do relate to the fact that a lot of our work is in inhospitable locations is correct, but I am sure that there are 2-3 other board members who also work in places they don't want to be in order to make a few extra $$$, its a lifestyle decision.
