Horneytorney
why always those anti-japanese rants? can't you forget, yanks? Pearl Harbour was 70 years ago!
YimSiam
Only 70?! No more ramen noodles for me! I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Mitsubishi...
Flashermac
I must have missed the rant. Where is it? p.s. More bombs were dropped on Darwin than Pearl Harbor. Didn't help though. Many more folks would still rather visit Hawaii than Darwin.
gobbledonk
As someone who has been to Darwin, I can only agree with you. One bizarrely laid out city - the 'CBD' (ha !) has bugger all bar a Coles and a few backpacker watering holes - if you want to shop for anything bar the most tragic souvenirs, you have to take a $15 cab ride back to Casuarina (yep, out near the airport) to visit their shopping mall. I know the place had to be rebuilt after Tracey, but you would think they could do a better job - even sleepy old Cairns has more to offer visitors than Darwin. Basically, the excitement of Vientiane, but instead of beautiful women you are confronted by hideous gargoyles - thanks, but I'll pass. How much is a ticket to Guam ? Flashermac
I've only been to the airport, but Darwin from the air didn't look like a place to visit anyway. Maybe it will eventually evolve into something.
