the black background is a huge turnoff

Changing it into white would somewhat influence the readability of the column , like my East Prussian black eagle appearing on black background would not impress anybody . Think about it .

The layout of Stick's site is the lowest possible level in the whole universe though it has to be said that I owe it a spectacular moment when I followed a promotion to a hotel that runs a bar called Toxic . They also have rooms with jacuzzis and I thought I should add this chapter to my life as long as it is possible , boom boom in a jacuzzi is what I am talking about . Project failed because unit roared like Africa's biggest lion after turning on the water and then failed to do anything any more . Female receptionist stared at aforementioned jacuzzi for several minutes and left theatre without a word . What might now sound like a tragedy developed in fact into new hights of Thai/German relations later that very evening . I am proud of it .

What did I want to say by these very words ? : I want to say that Mr Stickman ows the world absolutely nothing because his service are free of charge other than the Bangkok Post that you have to pay for . It is up to the esteemed reader to pick the jewels and as we are talking about it : 6000 bht for 2 hours with a VIP escort of carefully selected origin who is fluent in English , university educated , normally works in a bank and offers anal without additional charges sounds like a deal , what do you think fello boarzmen ?

That's absolutely correct.

Even though the design of his website is probably the most terrible Farang owned website in all over East Asia, I guess he sees it as a part of his brand by now.

he must be losing money hand over fist then.. surprised.gif

Ups, my bad: It should read: the most terrible _designed_ Farang owned website.

As I said, I have never complained about the content before and Stick really has my respect for the all the work and time he puts into the website, and of course for his staying power keeping the work since over a decade - especially after the vicious attacks from a certain psycho.

KS, all you need is a time machine and we could relive the good old days once more - at least the good old days as Stick saw them. Interesting to see his opinion of anything 'irreverent' - nice work from the Master Censor himself.

The first Thailand discussion forum I was an active member of was the now defunct NanaPlaza where the webmaster did a great job moderating. The tone of the forum was generally positive with users keen to help and learn from others. Abusive posts weren't common and when they did appear they were quickly removed and the offending user's account suspended. When a stupid, irreverent or inaccurate comment or post was made, it was quickly discredited by members keen to see such misinformation quashed. It felt like a bunch of friends sitting around shooting the breeze. But the best part about the NanaPlaza forum was that the users met regularly in the real world. For years an open invitation was extended to all members of the forum to meet every Friday evening at the old Woodstock bar in Nana Plaza. These casual get-togethers were well-attended by both local residents and guys on holiday. At its peak the get-togethers attracted 30 or more board members. Stories were told, experiences exchanged and friendships were made. The forum was a real pleasure to be a member of and like many I'd log in a few times a day. But it was the Friday meetings that were the real highlight. So many good people were active in those days and many of the friendships made then endure today.

It is in the current weekly, "keyboard warriors." I would prefer (and believe that KS would also prefer) not to provide a link but in paragraph 4, he uses the term "defunct" in referring to NP and extolling the good old days. Later on, he bashes most thai forums as they exist today, and I am sure that would include thai360, which is NP with a different name. If he feels that strongly about the state of thai forums, he could have posted his concerns here, as he has said he usually looks at thai360 about once a week. As his site isn't a forum (and according to him never will be), you will never hear criticism about him there but certainly hear about his pet peeves concerning posters on web sites (including thai). If dealing with other ex pats is such a drag (and his website is directed towards ex pats), I wonder why he stays in Thailand?

1. If you recall the thread I started months back, I 100% agree with your conclusion - why stay if his attitude to Thailand/Bangkok/Thai people/Farang/mongers/bars etc has sunk so low ? Could it be something as pedestrian as the evil baht ?

2. For all that, I can see where he is coming from re keyboard kiddies and many of the points he makes are mirrored on the new Pattaya-centric board I visit. The 'keyboard warrior' is only too real, but I dont really understand what prompted the extended rant in his latest column. I'm sure he does get his share of 'psycho emails', but if anyone in Thailand knows how to hit 'delete' based on an email preview, I thought it would be Stickman.

Of course, you don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to deduce from that column that the only 'credible' web presence currently discussing Thai nightlife is Stickman Bangkok. The others are either sadly departed, poorly moderated or subject to the haphazard posting regime of various Bangkok stalwarts. Thanks for clearing that up, Stick.

I often feel it's better to have minimal connection or interaction with Thailand-centric websites and just live my life in the real world. As a webmaster, however, that isn't possible.

Time to drag yourself away from that keyboard and return to doing what you do best, Stick - taking photos of everyday life in Thailand. Now THAT would be a 'good news story'.
