Cuban women's volleyball team........ rolleyes.gif

if you read my last F/R's i mentioned a game on the TV when they played the Thai women.

just a friendly game a gather but the Thai's in the bar were captivated and my gal would'nt leave the place until the game was over.

i had to endure the hardship of her buying a couple of drinks for me while she watched the game.

but i was surprised at how tall the Thai women were, not what i was used to.

Hi,

Makes you wonder what the organizers of the original Olympics would think about all this? It seems a far cry from those original games 2,000 odd years ago.

Sanuk!

but in those days the games were limited to men and NAKED men at that....

so first day of the Olympics and already GB are showing the world how to fuck up.

border controls at airports are shown as a bit of a shambles as an 11 y.o. boy walks into an airport and boards a plane heading for Rome.

seems he got onto the plane without a passport/having to get a boarding pass and then not showing a boarding pass at the check-in gate..... :closemouth:

and the new cable-car across the Thames is closed due to 'technical difficulties'.

and of course the traffic congestion gets worse...... :shakehead

and at the Women's football match the North Korean team walk off the field of play as they are introduced to the crowd with the South Korean flag shown on the big screens..... :yikes:

will it get any better?.

The Olympics are being held in the UK not Italy, so what this incident has to do with them I really don't know?! :dunno:

In fact the only thing in your post which is an example of a fuck up is the wrong flag incident.

Seems you want the UK to fuck things up?

i was highlighting the supposed tougher security controls at the airports.

so what if a young lad can get out of the country with no security checks?,after all it does'nt seem important that the checks can fail?.

now it seems the government are now saying the immigration process for people arriving should be relaxed, must'nt upset people coming into the country.... :shakehead

the flag incident was totally stupid and unacceptable in my eyes.

and no,i don't want the games to be a series of cock-ups.

it should be a games where we can show the world we are pretty good at getting things right.

It is Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea (PDRK) and Republic of Korea (RoK) not North and South.

Saudi judoka banned from wearing hijab at Olympics

Saudi judoka Wojdan Shaherkani was on Thursday banned from wearing the hijab head scarf when she is fighting at the Olympic Games.

The 18-year-old heavyweight, part of a two-woman team sent from the conservative kingdom to an Olympics for the first time, was ordered by International Judo Federation president Marius Vizer to step onto the mat with her head uncovered.

"The Saudi Arabian athlete will take part in judo and she will fight according to the principle and spirit of judo, so without a hijab," said Vizer following Thursday's draw.

Judo applies strict safety rules and any covering on the head is deemed to present a risk to the fighter's health.

Shaherkani is due to take part in the women's judo competition on August 3.

Saudi Arabia only agreed to send a women's team to London on condition that their two athletes respect a strict dress code.

The country's most senior sports official Prince Nawaf bin Faisal had told local daily Al-Jazirah the two athletes would be allowed to compete as long as they will be "wearing suitable clothing that complies with sharia."

Additionally he added other stipulations that: "the athlete's guardian agrees and attends with her," and "there must also be no mixing with men during the Games".

Men and women share the judo training venue, warm-up area in the competition hall and fight side-by-side on the various mat areas inside the competition arena.

American-raised 800m runner Sarah Attar is the second woman in the Saudi squad in London.

She has spent little time in the Islamic kingdom and grew up mostly in California, where she took up cross country running.

Attar appears without a headscarf in her official London 2012 photo.

For Shaherkani her participation is also contentious on other safety grounds as she has only been involved in the sport for two years and is not even a black belt. :yikes:

That means she very likely is nowhere near the level of the international fighters she will be coming up against.

She will fight Puerto Rico's Melissa Mojica, ranked 13 in the world, in the first round.
