huumlaar
BT Takes it too 10gbps - by the way hyper wifi via whiate spaces is very interesting. The service offers a single business more bandwidth than was used at the highest peak for the entire Olympics media network. The 10Gbps trial is in use at electronics business Arcol UK Ltd, where it runs in tandem with the company’s existing 330Mbps service on the same fibre cables. The UK’s current broadband average is approximately 12Mbps. BT says the “proof of concept trial†uses new fibre technology called XGPON (Tens of Gibabits on a Passive Optical Network) developed by Chinese electronics company ZTE, in partnership with BT Openreach. Arcol is connected by a direct fibre link from its offices to BT’s exchange in Truro, and is the first business in the country to use the record-breaking speeds. Such 'fibre to the premise' connections, however, are essential for such services and remain relatively rare. BT hopes that the demonstration will show that existing cables can be used to provide far faster speeds than are currently available. Upgrading exchanges and users’ equipment could be enough to make a major difference, the company claims. Ranulf Scarbrough, Programme Director for the Superfast Cornwall progamme, said: “What is exciting about this trial is that these hyper-fast speeds have been obtained over the exactly the same fibre that carries BT’s fibre broadband services today. All we are doing is changing the electronics at either end.†“This trial shows we are thinking and ready for the future even though there are no current plans to deploy this technology. A lot of this project is about future proofing – making sure that it’s not just the fastest speeds today but that we can continue to be at the cutting edge for five, ten, twenty years.†The trial is taking place in Cornwall because BT has already made fibre optic broadband available to over 100,000 Cornish homes and businesses, using an EU grant. Alun Morgan, of Arcol, said the company was " still only just discovering the sorts of things we can do with these speeds†for its 330Mbps connection. TheCorinthian
Just like the Google Street View images from my really boring street (see below): Try this one... http://www.streetviewfun.com/ From the links I suggested you look at - <<Look at the related posts as well.>> I posted note the pricing in the article is in HK$'s, which works out too $26. Kansas City is about 3 times that price. I did look at them. But we have a place there.. That does not work for the common user. It's not fiber on or near the KC scale. It is still is not what Google is doing.
huumlaar
Sorry Google network people acknowledge the HK roll out. Talk to engineers not PR people. Did you miss BT announcing it's 10 (TEN) gigabit network?
