StoneSoup
I keep seeing the news reports about "bullets being sezied from the protesters". That's reassuring - we wouldn't want any of those heavily armed prrotesters THROWING bullets at the Police ....
Flashermac
They hid their catapults. << Police fired 10 tear gas canisters at a group of protesters who removed barbed wire and barriers blocking their route in front of the UN building close to the main rally site, police said. "Tear gas was used in one area because protesters did not comply with the rules," said national police spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo. Three people, including one police officer, were taken to hospital because of the effects of the tear gas, while several others received first aid at the site, according to the Erawan emergency centre. >>
StoneSoup
I was just watching steaming video of all the Police WITHOUT chemical protective masks who were effectively gassed by their own forces. Som nam nah!
Flashermac
Same thing happened when they gassed the yellow shirts 4 years ago. Some people never learn. (The very least you can do it see which way the wind is blowing first.) A very light rain sprinkle right now. Maybe that will clear the air some. Come to think of it, the police gassed the yellow shirts in 2008 and are now gassing an anti-Takkie protest. I don't remember them doing anything in 2010, when the reds seized downtown Bangkok. Flashermac
Storm brewing up, thundering and apparently moving downtown. Thaksin must have the Khmer shamans working again.

StoneSoup
It appears that Seh Aieh's plan is the same as that used by the Redshirts in 2010 - have your protesters do WHATEVER IT TAKES to get the government forces to shoot a few protesters - so that he can call the the Army out of barracks to "restore order". That can make for prettty nasty preliminaries. I notice that there is already a "blackshirt faction" at work within the protester's ranks, that the protesters have removed the concrete baricaades that separated themselves from the Police lines, and that some protesters are now tearing up paving slabs to use as projectiles. If the protest is going to grow further, it will be as the sun goes down.
Flashermac
Lead story on the BBC - short video. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20475280 p.s. Textbook strategy on guerrilla warfare, straight out of Mao: do whatever it takes to cause your enemy to over-react. That makes martyrs and gains you sympathy.
