Bar4
Hi, Either that, or someone fucked up with the listing and it should have read 'with profits around 300,000-500,000 Baht per month.' Sanuk! I would say you are correct. It is a badly written advertisement. Cheers, Mark

StoneSoup
Well, with those fixed costs, and assuming beer purchased at 30 baht per bottle, and selling for 170 baht per bottle (similar ratio for mixed drinks), 30 days per month, 6.5 hours per night, you need to sell 34 beers per hour (every hour) to recover fixed costs, and then another 11 beers per hours to make 10,000 baht per day profit (= 300,000 baht per month). 45 beers per hour. In a decent go-go bar, that rate can certainly be done fairly easily some days, for maybe four or five hours per night. 15 customers at a time, drinking three drinks per hour will do that. So - it pretty much depends on which bar. 3.6 million baht profit on 22 million baht investment = 16.7% = 6 year payback. But - the investor has to watch that investment like a hawk - basically work the business.
Bangkoktraveler
Rent and salaries take away 11.28 million baht of the 21 million baht pie. Also subtract profits which might be .........................500,000 baht. That leaves about ..................9 million for expenses. If half of the staff does ST or LT and they get laid 50% of the time each night................ that adds up to a lot of money! Even in the USA if a business grosses $21 million some would say the business is worth $21 million dollars.
khunsanuk
Hi, StoneSoup, keep in mind this is a GoGo bar, so there will be another income stream based on barfines. This could add up quite a bit to the bottom line. Having said that though, I'd still not touch this with a barge pole Sanuk!
passingthru69
Now does the fixed costs also include the money for the "security" payments as well
Dexi
What about other costs such as accountancy and taxes ( or maybe bars don`t pay any ) plus there might be certain payments to keep the boys in brown happy .
Flashermac
Actually, if you get 4 or 5 partners to go in with you and sell each one 50%, you should do all right.

gobbledonk
So much blue sky in the arithmetic in this thread. How many would buy into a bar in Farangland if they knew - the off season could easily be 8+ months - finding staff would be a constant challenge, some leaving with zero notice and others attempting to steal from the business - the constant threat of political unrest could turn that long-awaited 'high season' into the land of broken dreams All of the above are out of the owner's control, but the big trapdoor seems to be the prospect of drinking one's own profits. Obviously, some bar owners make it work, but they dont publish the percentages in the Bangkok Post. If Nana's Golden Bar can make money purely on the basis of alcohol sales, fantastic, but they have a location that most bar owners would kill for.
