Meet Tommy Gunn -

Tommy is - IMO - a good looking guy, even though I don't recall any of his acting triumphs. At 45, Tommy is regularly bonking 20-somethings for the small number of studios still making commercial porn in LA. At the time of his interview with the BBC's Louis Theroux, Tommy claimed to have over 1100 starring roles under his, ahem, belt. He even scored a cameo on Entourage - not surprising given Mark Wahlberg's quirky casting choices. I don't know how that compares with Ron 'The Hedgehog' Jeremy, but Tommy doesn't look anything like ole Ron - clothed or otherwise.

The difference is that Tommy appears to be suffering from the very thing would-be mongers like myself periodically get chewed out for - he claims to have an emotional connection with some of his fellow sexual athletes. Those of us who have watched porn and thought 'Man, these guys are getting all that no-strings pussy totally free of charge !' might have been surprised to find that Tommy is having second thoughts about his life choices. In tonight's interview, he dropped a gem that I never thought I'd hear from a porn actor:

How many of these girls would have sex with me if they weren't being paid ?

Personally, this is where I think Ron Jeremy may have the edge - he would have answered that question for himself years (decades ?) ago, but Tommy seems to be grappling with the reality that comes to us all eventually. What I found more than a little bit sad was that he was trying to counsel one of the girls on how quickly the years between 23 and 43 will pass : no-one wants to hear that at 23, especially someone who has narrowed their career options down to taking strangers in every orifice. Every girl Louis interviewed claimed to have a boyfriend - several had partners who worked in the industry - and I'm fairly confident that their heads weren't in the same space as Tommy's.

As always, I'm preaching to the choir, and I expect that some of you are wondering what the point of this rant might be. It's not about Tommy, or Ron, or the LA porn industry - its about the reality of trying to find 'love' in a bar - any bar, but particularly a bar where the majority of the girls are 'paid actresses'. It's about confusing copulation with affection, and it's about those full-length mirrors at the Nana Hotel. Let's hope they get painted over real soon. :D

The Thai words for working in the bar industry sum it up nicely " kai dtua ",meaning literally " sell the body "......by implication the mind and emotional side is not involved. " kai dtua liang jai " = sell the body and rest the emotions :chinaman:

Back to the OP.

I haven't had anything to do with a BG for a very long time now. Lost all interest due to the fake nature of it all.

And that's absolutely fine with me - I'm not trying to wave the flag for a lifestyle that I *know* is shallow and potentially hazardous to one's health. If I had my shit together, I would be bouncing grandkids on my knee while my wife cooked us all brownies - clearly I dont - but this is a NIGHTLIFE forum on a board that was initially dedicated to NIGHTLIFE in Thailand. Call me crazy, but I expect that has something to do with BGs / go-go dancers and freelance prostitutes.

People might be surprised at how many of the BGs have to use drugs or alcohol to be able to shag every stranger that plunks down the money. Not all the BGs are sluts by nature.

How many regulars on THIS board would be surprised by that ? Oddly, one of the best sexual experiences I have ever had - P4P or otherwise - was with a gal I would never have dreamt of asking upstairs. She was attractive - no question - but usually turned up stoned or drunk at 10pm and even though the other girls made excuses for her (hard life, apparently), I was completely turned off. She and another girl did come up to my room at the Nana one afternoon and it ended with both of them in the hallway telling me to fuck off at volume levels I expect would have carried to the foyer and possibly out into the carpark. Fast forward 3 months and she rocks up *sober* and (apparently) straight, and I'm looking at a different woman. Havent seen her since, and it seems that she burnt some bridges with her 'old friends', but I've never been with a woman quite like her, before or since. Absolute basketcase in every other respect, and I loathe chain smokers at the best of times, but she could teach the rest of that Nana crew a thing or two about making a man happy. 3 months later I found myself with a 'nun' in Patts (!) - strictly missionary position, no kissing etc - and totally missing the basketcase. That may well end up part of a Wikipedia entry on 'sex addiction', but so be it - she rocked my tiny world.

If the girls need chemical help in sliding into their 'slut for hire' personas, its not diffiult to see why porn has a reputation for substance abuse, depression and (in some cases) suicide. One of the agents claimed that girls (reportedly the biggest earners) get anything from 3K to 8K USD for a gangbang movie, but it wouldnt take long to put that up a set of nostrils or into a vein. The smart ones - and there were a few standouts - used the money to put themselves through college and got out of the industry before 30 - clearly, Tommy just wasnt that bright.

If you catch them early, and you reframe them properly, you can get very good results.

A few years ago, I stumbled over a 19-year-old sweetheart in Suzie Wong. Cute as hell, fun, FEISTY as hell (in good ways). She'd bought into the "bad girl" thing, and apparently had decided that, if she was going to be a bad girl anyway, she might as well be GOOD at being bad. She'd worked up this NICE little rap about being the baddest bad girl in Soi Cowboy, I don't remember it, and I wish I'd written it down.

About the third time she trotted out that rap, I looked her straight in the eye and said "The difference between a good girl and a bad girl is that a good girl knows when and how to be bad, and how to enjoy it, but a bad girl doesn't know how to be good. <pause> Do you want to be my good girl?"

She got this STUNNED look on her face for a few seconds, as she processed what I'd said, and then "YES!!!". The rest of that trip was wonderful.

She came VERY close to being my personal Si Saket Highway Exit story. I remember, as I was riding away from the hotel at 5 AM, in the cab to the airport, thinking it was a good thing I was flying out, because otherwise I'd be in SERIOUS danger of finding myself married.

At last report, she'd settled down with a European ex-pat, and life was good. I wish her the best. (I met him briefly, not long after they'd hooked up. I told him, earnestly, that he was a lucky man and to take good care of her.)
