Bloody Hell Shopping In Thailand Is Expensive!

I was just looking at the website of Albert Heyn, the largest (and one of the most expensive supermarket chains) in the Netherlands.

Almost everything there was cheaper than in Thailand!

for example:

Fresh tropical fruit juice 30-35 bt for 1.5 liter ...... in Thailand 60-100 baht

Lay's chips big bag 225 gr 50 bt ..... in Thailand 100 gr 30 baht

Even all kinds of meat where the same price or only marginally more expensive than Thailand.

Unbelievable ........

It is getting that way. Many things are the same, but some are going up steeply. Veggies in the local market are way up from a year ago. In the groceries you have to look for sales, 2 for 1 etc. And yet the baht is stronger than usual. WTF? Is this Thaksin's great plan to get the people begging him to come back?

Since the flood, I see prices up over 50%, IMO.

My question...how do the average Thai people get by?

All the local massage shops have raised their prices, gasoline price almost double from

a few years (5 ~ 10) back, taxi prices are about the same, LPG/CNG up 50% in the last year!
