Bloody Nora...George Washington will be turning is in grave! There he was freezing his bollocks off at Valley Forge so that future generations of Americans could have freedom and democracy, and you excuse your indifference by saying you only have one vote anyway.

Make your voice heard, especially if your Congressman is one of those [paid by AIPAC] robots who gave Israeli PM Netanyahu 29 standing ovations just after he’d come from insulting your President in the White House, and arrogantly joking that maybe he should stand for Prez.

Are you saying the people that fight in the wars should have more votes than those that do not?

As far as Congress is concerned, it might be a good idea. You cannot vote for war if you have never served. :hmmm:

And you cannot become Commander in Chief if you have not even been a PFC.

That might encourage a few more would-be politicians to do something besides run for high paying offices.

Having served in the US military should be a requirement for at least Dept of Defense - or even a requirement to be President.

Having served in a foreign military while a US citizen should be a disqualification for holding a govt office or even a security clearance.

As soon as an American enlists in a foreign military he loses his citizenship - except in special circumstances, such as the 16,000 who served in the RCAF in WWII. The couple of thousand who joined the RAF did lose their citizenship, but it was restored when the US entered the war and they were forced to transfer to the USAAF.

p.s. Writer S Tsow always argues that only a veteran should be Sec of Def and not have held a rank higher than buck sergeant. A former enlisted man knows enough not to believe all the crap that generals come up with.

Making it a requirement to have served isn't a bad idea for Sec Def, but it sure rules out a lot of qualified people for Prez. Running a country (IMO) should be like running a company, especially where it comes to budgets etc.

No rank higher than Buck Sgt? So ALL officers are crap now according to Tsow flash?

A WWI German Corporal used to say the same think, a lot - often claiming as a corporal he knew better than the Generals who were screaming for him to not attack Russia, and to change tactics... Personally I'm glad he didn't listen, but doesn't give much weight to Tsow's idea.
