Innocent till proven guilty, but the media is showing a bizarre amount of restraint in this case. http://kangaroocourtofaustralia.com/2013/03/30/rolf-harris-arrested-in-uk-sex-scandal-police-investigation/ Despite the initial rumors, the latest is that the charges have nothing to do with Saville, and appear to date back to his time in Australia in the 60s. Given that he has spent more of his life in England than in Oz, I don't even agree with the 'Australian' part, and 'entertainer' is used in the broadest possible sense. . It's true that Harris has been questioned - the rest is a matter for the system. Clearly, they did a bang-up job with Saville: During Savile's lifetime, sporadic allegations of child abuse were made against him, but only became widely publicised after his death. Savile claimed the key to his success on Jim'll Fix It had been that he disliked children, although he later admitted to saying this to deflect scrutiny of his personal life. He did not own a computer as he did not want anybody to think he was downloading child pornography.[3] In a 1990 interview for The Independent on Sunday, Lynn Barber asked him about rumours that he liked "little girls". Savile's reply was that, as he worked in the pop music business, "...the young girls in question don't gather round me because of me – it's because I know the people they love, the stars... Who the hell would leave their kid alone with a cigar-chomping weirdo anyway ? I think personalities like Benny Hill and the two Ronnies were harmless, but I wouldn't leave kids with them - Benny probably copped heaps for being gay from the same people who apparently thought Saville was a great guy .... Even if there had been no reports of anything dodgy, who leaves their kids with any adult male ? I wouldnt even look after my sister's kids, much less a stranger's little shits - Saville repeatedly put himself in the position where he was alone with children. Boggles the mind. A number of news reports have simply stated the name of the personality interviewed is all over social media. Innocent till proven guilty, sure, but he'll never work in this town again - regardless of the outcome. Shit sticks. Yeah he's spent a long time in the UK, but like it or not he's still an Aussie Gobble - just like Mel Gibson was always a yank. If a dog's lives in a stable it doesn't make him a horse. gobbledonk Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Share Posted April 11, 2013 This is the same media that was happy to pass on scuttlebutt re Michael Jackson and various alleged victims, down to naming the children involved, before he had even been dragged into court (the first time). Granted, things get very public when someone starts a civil case seeking millions, but my point is that they weren't prepared to wait for a guilty verdict or even for Jackson to be charged by the Police.
