Specialist
A few years back, before the big Red Shirt protest, I rode the skytrain out to MBK. While on the platform in front of the National Stadium, I heard a sound. It was a sound I hadn't heard in many years. It was absolutely unmistakeable. No one who has ever heard and learned to love that sound will ever forget it, or mistake it for anything else. It was the song of steel on steel. I stopped. I listened. I looked. There they were, by the side of the stadium. It was a fencing class. They were a small group, maybe twenty people, all Thai. I walked down, found my way to the stadium. I was there for an hour or so, watching them, and, with their permission, taking pictures. I subsequently lost the pictures in a laptop computer disk drive crash. Does anyone know if this class is still going on, or where they may have moved to?
Flashermac
Never heard of that one, but I once saw a club suited up at Thammasat Rangsit. I fenced (foil) as a university student. My knees wouldn't hold up for it these days. At least the major universities seem to have fencing clubs. http://www.thaifencing.org/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwtsjehn-GE
