Flashermac
Sounds like the Escape & Evasion course. You didn't want to be captured! Most trainees were. I remember one guy got hung upside down by his feet.
Boo Radley
Hi, That article is no longer available. Coincidence? Sanuk! I remember reading that BKK Post article about Wichen Puaksom when it first came out ca 2 years ago. When I looked for it again recently, the BKK Post website seemed to have removed it, although it's still available in copied form on other sites. Google still points to the dead link. Maybe it was thought to tarnish the reputation of one of the institutions in Thailand, viz. the army, so it got removed?

radioman
Up country when the Poo Yai Baan or Kamnan want something done the villagers tend to make sure it happens. The Thai army is really just another version of the village life all Thais know and love, they know their place, Buddha tells them it's so, they know what to do, to serve their king and country. Brainwashing a nation is not that hard to do and they've been doing it since 1931.
