Guest
"Public sanitation, food handling and storage, refrigeration, vaccination, anti-biotics, industrial safety standards... No doubt that these are the good old days." Truer than most people realize. In 1900, death was MUCH more common among the less-than-elderly in the average American family. Indoor plumbing has been one of the biggest boons to mankind, but never gets as much credit as it deserves, because it's not as dramatic as a new wonder drug. One of my old professors claimed that half the disease in the world would be eliminated just by cleaning all of the water supplies.
