Atm Fees

ATM fees are up, from 150 Bt to 180 BT, but what is worse is that they now limit your withdrawings to 10K BT max.

Imagine you need 30K, thats 540 Bt charges, plus what your local bank will charge you for the currency exchange.

 

When did that happen ?

What is also bad is the large denomination of the TB, hate having to pay for a beer with a 1000 TB bill. Sometimes the change doesn't quite come back complete. My only way around the large bills is to remember to withdraw an amount that included hundreds, like 9900 TB. But that only gives you 4 100TB bills and having to pass 9 large bills.

Aeon ATMs do not charge a fee.

 

I use my Citibank card and pull money from the USA. No charge on either side

of the pond.

 

Also, I can pull out 40,000 Baht in a 24 hour time frame.

Worth it if you're near enough, otherwise might cost more to get there and back than the total saving.

Is the 10K limit universal, or just at some ATMs? I knew of a lot that would only do 10K at a time. I also knew of at least one that would do 20K.

BB your statement suggests that all banks ATM's charge Baht 180 and limit one to Baht 10,000 withdrawals however this is not true. How many different ATM's have you tried?

I withdrew 30,000 from Khrungthai bank yesterday in one go, 150 THB charge.
