Concerns About Airlines And Hotels And An Expired 30 Say Tourist Visa

I got in late last night to BBK and got a 30 day visa that expires on 29 July. I leave the early hours of 31 July and am prepared to pay the 2 day overstay fine of 1,000 baht. I will fly from Chiang Mai 30 July to Bangkok and check into hotel. Both Air Asia and the hotel will ask for my passport. Should I have any concerns that they will inform authorities of my overstay, before I reach the airport?

no worries about overstay of so few days (2) and in the case of airlines they couldnt care less while the odd hotel scammer might be in for a quick immigration kickback I doublt it would even work in case of only 1 day overstay (at the time of checkin) which would be free :D

certainly no sane person would want to deal with visa extension or visa run process which would end up being way more expensive & hasslesome (doh) :p

but you could try to use your national ID such as drivers license for checkin (domestic flights dont really care anything)...I check into hotels with my drivers license all the time (non english language lol) ... no problemo mister just hand us the cash!!!

no worries seriously

even if you do hand out your passport you could remove your sticker & note that they only copy your main name n photo page (1 copy). nothing about permit to stay date ;)

once you reach swampy stamp out clerk he may even overlook the overstay (if he's sleepy), but current process as of last month is that he/she will call over one of the cute police women to escort you to the special overstay counter on the way to duty free & they will with a smile take your cash (thai baht cash only!!) & insist on issueing you a receipt with the mentioned cute ladies name (yes she do play fb lol) 55555

I've overstayed before, by 1day . When Taksin was deposed, Burma chosed it's borders with Thailand for several days. That was when you could still get a 30 day visa extension, which I had planned on doing by going to the Burmese border from Chiang Mai. I couldn't go before a 1week stay in Phuket and Pattaya. In Phuket, I got a 10 day extension but by the time I got back to CM, I was 1 day late and paid the 200 baht fine at Mae Sai. I could have got a 60 day visa from the Thai Chicago consulate for 1,800 baht, plus shipping. I'm not going to waste a day going to Mae Sai to save 1.000 baht. As I'm flying into the old airport around 4 PM, I think that I'll just cancel the hotel room and take the shuttle bus to Swampy and hang out until the 3 AM check in. By the way, Mekong thanks for the tip about Phone Friend at MBK. I took 5 IPads and 1 IPhone to him this after noon and he will have the broken glass replaced in all of them by 7 tonight. I still have 1 other Ipad that needs some internal work, as it doesn't power up, but he is going to check with some other shops to see if they can fix it.

No problems with my phone friend but save your thanks for a couple of hours when you have everything back working.

On your visa issue, why not go to Chiang Mai Immigration and apply for a Non-Imm O you are married for Christ sake and own property up there, valid for 12 months.

If you don't have marriage certificate with you just go to city hall in Amphur where you registered marriage and they will issue a copy for 50 Baht.
