think_too_mut
Isaan has no dedicated food topic? Som tum, an innovative serving. Isaan restaurant at the Sheraton Hua Hin (250B for this meal), What's new? Papaya salad has the addition of grilled chicken to represent a full single meal. Foreigners ordering it would not know it comes along other meals as Thais eat several at the same time. Sticky rice (khao niao), in the small bucket. Krapao gai (minced chicken with basil), looks like not enough but with jasmine rice it was. 300B.
think_too_mut
Larb, home made. All ingredients are available in Japan, in fact, for most of Thai food there is all you need. If not in general supermarkets then in ethnic import shops, like this one (Brazilian but caters for others too): Larb comes to table about once a month. Small onions are rare to find, when we do, then larb is that or next day. Sometimes fill a lettuce leaf, roll and eat like that: Larb is too spicy for our kid, she eats sliced chicken in oyster sauce and tom-jed-tofu, great soup. Made of stock, veggies and tofu. (Who has used it to recover from hangover, would know how good the soup is).

khunsanuk
Hi, Seems that 'larb thort' (fried larb, balls of larb deep fried) is getting popular. Have had it several times now and quite like it. Prefer it to the normal larb actually. Sanuk!
