While on "Silver Dollar" restaurant, not necessarily Isaan food, there is one little known with fantastic food and Thai prices.

Ta Chang pier, on Chao Praya river. Public transport boats stop there (cheap tickets), that is where the Palace is, a tourist mecca.

Everyone can see this restaurant but there is no entrance straight from the pier:

It is open to the public. The trick is, you have to walk out of the pier, some 150m, enter a seemingly military building guarded by soldiers and then back, through the coridors to the river front where the restaurant is. Many get put off with the military presence but it's irrelevant. Anyone can go in and enjoy the restaurant. In the pic above, you can spot a female student in her Uni uniform.

The food is great, Thai prices. Known for sea food:

A lunch there, 3-4 hours outing, I can recommend to everyone.

Last time we took there a couple, Japanese, they went after that to see the Palace, just to be told by tuk-tuk drivers "it's closed, we can take you to a better place".

What a difference, that restaurant and the surrounding scams.
