think_too_mut
The tablet beacons the satellite. That's novel, how's it do that? Got a link? Just saw this post. Yes, anything working as a GPS gets the coordinates from the US military satelite. From nobody else, just that satelite and - for free. After the KAL 007 flight downing, supposedly, they were lost. Ronald Reagan, then US President, ordered that information about positioning has to be freely accessible and available to anyone. That is how the whole GPS gadgets industry took off and mushroomed. Yet another example how the World gets a free ride on the back of America.

The European system currently has four satellites aloft, with 26 to come. 16 Beidou birds already circle the earth, out of a planned 35.
